Perhaps the worst-kept secret in all of the video game industry right now is Valve's new game and IP Deadlock.
There's been quite a lot of drama about the game over the past week (including one outlet sharing its own 'hands on' experience) and although there's not even an official announcement yet (even though we've already had some leaks), it's already got more than 20,000 concurrent Steam players testing it out, putting it in the top 100 "most played games" on Steam right now (via SteamDB).
Even if you've played the game, according to various reports online and social media, you're not meant to discuss, record, stream or publicise your experience with anyone. As revealed in previous leaks, Deadlock is essentially a "6v6 4-lane third-person shooter MOBA" in its current state.
Obviously this game is still in development, but if it does see the light of day, there's always a chance it could come to a system like Xbox in the future. Although some Valve titles have skipped consoles in the past, many other series like Half-Life, Team Fortress, Portal and Left 4 Dead have been released across multiple platforms over the years.
If we hear any significant updates, we'll let you know.

Seems weird to have this on an Xbox site?
0 to do with Xbox and a handful of people playing it :/
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Valve has been releasing games on Xbox platforms since 2003, so I'm sure there's at least some interest in the company's next mystery project. I'll add we've already covered Deadlock before as well.
Valve (Gabe included) and Microsoft also have a long history. As for PX, we dabble in some light PC coverage from time to time due to Xbox's links to various MS products and services such as Windows and cloud.
can’t wait to play it , overwatch has been terrible for years now & i need a replacement 😩
Can someone explain what this "6v6 4-lane third-person shooter MOBA" means.
I understand 6v6
6 players vs 6 players
I know what 3rd person shooter is.
It's the rest of it I don't know.
@Spider-Kev I’ve not played a lot of the MOBA genre but MOBAs are an extension of the RTS genre. The goal typically is to get to the other teams base and destroy their crystal. Along the way you’ll face defences like towers which shoot at you which destroying will weaken the enemy and make it easier to win. On top of players there are ways of fodder units which distract said defences so the player can do the attacking.
The player gains EXP and levels up can but new skills and other buffs. The whole thing is hero class based.
The best example of a MOBA is League of Legends although it all started as a mod of Warcraft 3’s In Defence of the Ancients campaign mission.
As for lanes there are electively different routes you can take to get to the base. Each with their own hazards and benefits. Because of fog of war you might not know which one your enemy is taking. You’re free to change lanes is not a fixed thing in one game.
I could be wrong as I’ve only played a bit of Heroes of the Storm back in the day on a potato laptop. If anyone knows better please jump in.
@Spider-Kev Look for a game called Smite. This very much sounds like that with guns instead of godly powers
@Liam_Doolan Just to clarify, I don't mind the coverage.
That said, that isn't quite right though, is it? Their first Xbox release was in 2003, their most recent in 2014. That's 11 years unless we're splitting months. With nothing for the following decade.
On top of that they abandoned every Xbox release except Left 4 Dead, which actually got DLCs.
They flat out ignored CS, TF2, and CSGO, after releasing them and abandoned them as quickly as they released the next update for said games on PC
If anything I'd stay far away from Valve console releases as they tend to be little more than cash grabs.
On PC though, Valve is ace.
@InterceptorAlpha Sorry, to rephrase that - yes, since 2003 and admittedly there has been a significant gap since the last release (time flies). Also appreciate you don't mind the coverage!
And I will say I think there's enough history between Xbox (MS) & Valve in recent years (as can be seen in our related links) to justify the coverage.
@Liam_Doolan That is 100% fair. I just wanted to be clear because sometimes I can be argumentative, but that was not the intention here.
And I appreciate the response!
