Back in 2021 when we were first treated to the awesome remaster of Quake on Xbox, there was a bit of controversy over the fact that Limited Run Games was producing physical editions for everything except Microsoft's consoles.
Flash forward three years later, and we're finally getting them! Limited Run has opened pre-orders today for both the standard $29.99 physical version of Quake for Xbox, along with a limited Quake Quad Damage Edition for $99.99.

If you're interested in either of these you've got until September 22nd to pre-order, and the estimated ship date is in January of next year for the standard release, and February for the Quake Quad Damage Edition.
As for Quake 2, Limited Run did actually make that game available physically at launch last year for Xbox consoles, and these days those versions are sold out. If you're desperate for Q2, you might need to look around on eBay!

Wonder if its gonna be a real physical edition for xbox series x, or is it smart delivery and the disc comes with the xbox one version like 90% of series x "physical" games
I hate that so many companies are outsourcing their stuffs to Limited Run
I got Quake 2 already, now I feel like I have to get this.
I still want to know where Quake with ray tracing is for Xbox.
Sweet! I was hoping a physical release for this would come out eventually on Xbox, but honestly I didn't expect it to actually happen. Definitely will be getting myself a copy!
Why couldn’t they just make a new quake for next gen
@jikflet Pretty much the reason I don’t care about this release. How hard is it to just…put the series X game on a disc?
@M20B25 yeah same here. Also got the Limited Run version of Quake 2.
But I got myself a physical box with Quake 1 and several Doom titles. Only downside, there's only Doom 2016 on disc, the rest was a code.
But I have the box. So I'm not sure if it's worth for me getting this release here.
I also think that Quake 2 is the better game.
@M20B25 can you confirm if the full game is on the disc? I missed out on Quake 2 release, but I’m considering this one…
Is there a reason this took so long? That's so strange. Better late than never, I guess, but how weird.
@TheSimulator In the 2024 Xbox Developer Direct there is a teaser for Quake 6. It’s written on a white board in the background around 43mins in.
I’m sorry Quake and Xbox studios do not need to be using limited Run. Same as Star Wars games. Ridiculous. Small indies and one man band games are where Limited run has a place
nice for my physical xbox collection, used to play unreal tournament 2004 when i was 14 2005, quake comes close so nice to have physical
@TheSimulator they cannibalized any hope of a Quake 1 sequel when they made this new Doom game. If we ever get another Quake, it will probably be the dogs*** Strogg setting from Quake II and IV.
Kinda tempted just to have a physical version of this incredible single player game, weird they (lrg) didn't do a pc release
