Update: Great news! The Mortuary Assistant is finally now available to purchase on Xbox consoles:

Original story: Back at the tail-end of July, we highlighted an upcoming Xbox game known as The Mortuary Assistant, which is a seriously scary horror title that's gone viral with tens of millions of views on YouTube over the past few years.

At the time, The Mortuary Assistant was scheduled for an August 2nd release on Xbox One, Series X and Series S, and although it did end up releasing for other platforms on that date, the Xbox version was unexpectedly delayed:

Last week also came and went without any release date for The Mortuary Assistant on Xbox, with the developer mentioning on August 8th that they needed to find out "what needs to be done to finish up Xbox paperwork".

Although the situation has mainly been received with good humour, the dev admitted today that it's been "unbearably upsetting" to see the Xbox version stuck in limbo, and the situation doesn't appear to be getting much better:

So, if you've been wondering why The Mortuary Assistant hasn't appeared on Xbox yet, here's your answer! Hopefully a solution will be found imminently for its release, as clearly there are a lot of Xbox fans excited to check it out.
