Well, we didn't expect this! Striking Distance Studios' The Callisto Protocol is getting a brand-new spin-off this year, and yes, its name is REDACTED. No... it's not redacted, the actual game is called REDACTED. Got it? Alright.
Naming oddities aside, REDACTED is a roguelike spin-off from the team's well-known 2022 survival horror title. Set on the icy moon of Callisto, the game's Black Iron prison has been overrun and your task is pretty simple - get out alive.
"In [REDACTED], a fast-action isometric roguelike, a shadowy agent watches Black Iron Prison spiral into chaos. As one of the last guards, fight through monsters, rivals, and reanimated corpses of your fellow guards to escape the penitentiary alive. Only one of you can make it off the moon – make sure it’s you!"

Launching as a lower-priced series entry on October 31st this year, REDACTED looks pretty cool, actually. Okay, sure, it's not what we expected next from Striking Distance Studios, but we're totally up for an experimental spin-off, and it'll retail at just $24.99 to boot.
If you fancy playing through The Callisto Protocol itself before diving into this, remember, the Dead Space-like is currently available on Xbox Game Pass across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Cloud.

I'm glad to see this. I haven't played Callisto Protocol yet (still on Xbone, not leaving a game like this up to the fate of streaming input delays) but I loved what it was trying to do. Glad they're getting a chance to try more with it-- I guess that means it sold well enough to keep experimenting with? That's very good.
The updated version of CP is a solid play. This seems.lke a prequel DLC released as a stand alone game. Maybe they want to avoid the original negative reviews?
For the price not bad.
