Earlier this week, a sneak peek sale went live for Xbox Game Pass members ahead of Microsoft's big summer promotion, and the wording of these discounts has been the cause for lots of confusion over the last few days.
Basically, when non-Game Pass members check these deals out, the store listings tend to have a "get Game Pass" tag attached to them. Well, plenty of Call of Duty fans spotted these listings and assumed that if you subscribed to Game Pass you'd get access to the COD games in question - rather than access to discounts on them.
Of course, that's not the case for now at least - we're still waiting for Xbox to bring the Call of Duty back catalogue to the Game Pass library.
Once the big summer sale goes live for everyone, these 'get Game Pass' tags should disappear - and all Xbox players will see the proper discounts for these Call of Duty games. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but nope, these tags are not indicating COD on Xbox Game Pass - for now at least!
Having said that, we are still expecting them to come to the service soon. Given that Microsoft seems to be working on new Game Pass tiers and pricing options, we'd expect those to be figured out and in-place before any huge ActiBlizz drops happen. We've had to exercise lots of patience with this, but hopefully, we're not too far away from some big Game Pass additions at this stage.
In the meantime, fans are also spotting that one very old Xbox 360 era Call of Duty 4 DLC is free to keep on Xbox right now and has been for a month or so - here's a link to that if you'd like to add it to your account while it's still free!

All of those "play it Day One with Game Pass" from the showcase sound like a lie now. Before it was only one tier without Day 1 games. Now it's only just one the one that gives you access to them.
Another day, another Microsoft Marketing Mess.
@Lup totally agree. Needs to say play it day 1 GP ultimate, if you also pay for early access
Too late for most of us. I've gotten most COD physically at dirt cheap prices to play the campaign years ago.
Microsoft is so desperate they're having to trick people into subscribing to gamepass
Microsoft need put every Activision game on the service now else why increase the prices
Microsoft’s PR and marketing teams are useless. They release statements and information that are so muddy and at times, contradictory.
They are alienating too many gamers.
So 3 days after the price hike and they haven’t even bothered to justify it?
And btw they announced they’ll be removing Game Pass from MS Rewards meaning you can’t use your points to get the sub, just a fantastic week for Xbox gamers, again.
Am reeeeeally getting tired of Microsoft’s nonsense lately. Like can’t they do anything … just right?! Every single thing from them just seems to be confusing and complicated now. I absolutely love Xbox but it really feels like they are a complete shambles at the moment, and it only looks like getting worse.
@IOI Are you freaking kidding me....... WOW, just what the hell.
Who the heck is driving that Porsche that is Microsoft and instead of cruising they are driving it like a bumper car
