Developer GSC Game World has announced another delay for Stalker 2 - this time pushing the game out to November 20th, 2024. This open-world FPS is still hitting Xbox Game Pass on day one, but it's now arriving roughly two and a half months later than scheduled.
This latest delay is "giving the team breathing room to address technical issues with the game and bring the final release closer to the experience that the fans expect". You can check out the developer poking fun at its newest delay in the trailer up above.

Alongside this unfortunate news, GSC is also here with a more positive announcement. On August 12th, the team will be working directly with Xbox to unveil "the most comprehensive look yet" at Stalker 2 - featuring "never-before-seen content, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage" and more.
Here's some more information on that event:
"With the launch nearly here, the team is ready to share the biggest and the most comprehensive update on the game yet. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Developer Deep Dive will premiere in collaboration with Xbox on the 12th August, 2024, featuring a variety of never-before-seen content,
This Developer Deep Dive is set to give our fans the full understanding of how the game plays and looks. More details will be shared soon."
Well, there you have it. Stalker 2 is now officially coming to Xbox Game Pass on November 20 - and we have a developer deep dive to look forward to in the meantime on August 12.

Oh well ...better than releasing a game that they don't feel is in its best state ..then deal with all the cry babies saying why didn't they delay it
Delay it for how long it needs I say so it's an amazing game
Did I miss the news, but it seems Frostpunk 2 was also delayed? (my GP app says it's supposed to be out today, and I was kind of looking forward to that, wondering why there is no coverage..)
@Cikajovazmaj Yeah, it was delayed about a month ago to September 20th.
We don't always cover delays like this when they're specific to PC Game Pass (simply because we don't get enough interest in them), but we always keep our 2024 Game Pass guide up to date:
https://www.purexbox.com/guides/xbox-game-pass-in-2024-the-full-list-of-everything-announced-so-far
@Cikajovazmaj Frostpunk 2 was moved to Sept 20th at the start of this month, I'm not sure why the app is saying today.
@StylesT Those shouldn’t be the two options. They should release it in time AND in a good state. They always say they want to release it in as good a state as possible when announcing a delay, but it’s just a fancy way of saying they missed the deadline.
As much as another delay isn’t great, even though it is completely understandable with all these guys have been through, I like this particular trailer. It’s incredibly self-aware, humorous, and uses seemingly in-game footage, with seemingly in-game UI elements, to explain share news about the delay.
Unless Avowed and Indy are delayed, I think the delay sort of boots it from my gaming playlist this year then. Definitely means my sub will be cancelled today too. I would’ve floated a month, but not a few months. Nothing on GP for me til… at least November. I totally understand, but still… reality is reality.
Say it isn't so. Lol. Sorry, but this game does not look good. I hope I'm wrong. And now, on August 12th, we are going to have the most comprehensive look yet? Good Lord, just stop.
@WhiteRabbit if they are going through ***** why giving us a release date to begin with? i'm not attacking this developer I'm talking about in general with all developers these years they giving us release date and they delay games. I understand sometimes games get delayed and it's totally fine but almost 90% AAA developers they just delaying their games.
At least the developers are having a little fun with the delay.
It sucks, but I do get so tired of games releasing too early due to deadlines and needing patches along the way, so I'd much rather things get delayed a few months to ensure the game is in the most polished state it can be (before the masses get a hold of it and find the most random bugs that QA testers probably didn't even think could be possible).
Ain’t gonna lie, even with the circumstances they are going through this is still starting to give cyberpunk vibes with how many delays this close to the release date is.
It's a good thing we pay $20 a month to get games promised on the release date given to us, months and years in advance.
Yet, another example of not following the 6 Month Rule, leading to frustration and disgusted gamers. They'll never, ever learn.
Honestly they shouldn’t even set a date, just release the game when it’s ready, we understand.
@IOI Believe you are asking for common sense. Sadly it is not really all that common.
It is past the point of obnoxious. The 6 Month Rule is the only way to go.
@WhiteRabbit as I said "I'm not trying attack this developer" but 90% of developers they delay their games. again if you are going through **** don't announce release date. I get that **** happens but 90% of games getting delay it's just a bad communication. **** happens all the time why we didn't face these problems before... We weren't getting so many delays back in time.
I don't care about this delay I was just sharing general thing..., sorry if I miscommunicate my point
Now we just the inevitable Indy delay, I can see that being announced very soon.
We could end up with just Avowed as an Xbox/PC AAA game from Microsoft for 2024 and Also Stalker 2 dropping to 2025.
Possibly another fab looking gaming 2024 slightly shattered from early promotions and promises.
At this rate Sony and Nintendo will get the last laugh for 2024.
Just like Starfield last year, this looks like a game I can get into but not completely sure, will definitely take advantage of the GP launch and buy it outright if it's a good time.

A lot of hissy fits in the comments for game that is being made in war torn Ukraine. Yeesh.
@WhiteRabbit Well I didn't know that, I always thought they gave us release date when Ukraine was in war, well that's on me, thanks for telling me that.
I’m never mad about delays. The best quote I’ve ever heard is “Delays are temporary, mediocrity is forever”. Shigeru Miyamoto.
@GamingFan4Lyf They’re not released too early. They’re finished too late.
Not saying this is the reason buying GamePass is a bad idea but like I did for the last 3 years I bought ahead and didn't exactly get my money's worth. Somes months I definitely did but most months I played games I purchased not on GamePass.
Delaying games are definitely are necessary (especially this one where they are living and working in war zones) but in turn it can affect the worth of the short term of GamePass.
I'll just be buying this game after reviews if it pans out to be worth it. They can take all the time they need to finish it.
Gladfully not only on Gamepass
@cburg Except the game isn't being made in Ukraine. Almost all of them relocated to Prague when war broke out and opened their new studio there.
@WhiteRabbit They had the 1st release date set but not the second one they also relocated to Prague when the war broke out so the game hasn't been developed in a warzone either.
@MrMagic Ok what is your point?
@cburg The point was I was correcting you.
@MrMagic So what. I think your point is that you are angry that the game is delayed.
@MrMagic Yes, I’m sure it’s not like any of the devs could possibly have friends and family at home going through hell every day to think about. I’m sure the most important thing in the world to them is finishing this game.
