Original story (Tue 4th Jun, 2024): We've seen the mighty Duke controller recreated, and now the American video game peripheral manufacturer Hyperkin is turning its attention to the 'S' model version of the original Xbox controller.
After an announcement earlier this year, pre-orders for this officially licensed wired controller titled the 'DuchesS' will begin on July 15th, 2024 for $50 USD (or your regional equivalent) and the launch will take place on August 21st, 2024. Hyperkin.com and sites like Amazon will be stocking it.
As for the features, it includes impulse triggers, bumpers, black and white buttons, a 3.5mm headset jack, and is compatible with the Xbox Series X|S as well as the Xbox One.
“With the launch of DuchesS, you’ll be able to use a version of every generation of Xbox controller ever created on a modern console with the trio of Hyperkin official replicas.”
Would you be interested in this controller for modern Xbox platforms? Let us know in the comments.

Freaking Bravo on that controller codename.
That controller was such a joy to play with.
I'd love one... If it were wireless.
Breaks my heart every time I see a cool release like this only for it to be wired.
I’ve got the Hyperkin Duke, and the Xenon (their remake of the 360 controller) so I’ll definitely be getting this one too. Love them for a bit of retro gaming.
I remember rushing out to get the smaller controller when it came out as I always found the original way too large and uncomfortable for extended play. Even crazier since it was designed presumably at the same since it launched in Japan with the system. I can't really think of too many people even with larger hands that actually preferred the duke, well unless you had freakishly large hands I suppose and were in fact a giant. I would consider picking this up if it was wireless though or if it was compatible with the OG Xbox but it is neither.
Best controller after the GameCube one. Thank God Xbox found a way to screw it up by making sure it wasn't wireless too. I almost bought this.
Why are Hyperkin controllers always wired? Are they too cheap to pay for wireless? Such a shame
glad to know it’s wired , means i can use it with my pc
@JokerBoy422 Microsoft doesn't make this controller. It's third party made by Hyperkin.
@mus422 I don't think Microsoft licenses the wireless technology for the controller.
@ZYDIO I know. They block everyone from using their proprietary wireless tech so we get stuck with wired 3rd party stuff unless a special deal is made. So again, thanks for making this awesome controller suck now Microsoft.
@JokerBoy422 I have never figured out why they do that, because it would be better for everyone if they would allow other companies to make wireless controllers. For some reason they allow other companies to make wireless headsets using the same technology, so who knows.
@ZYDIO that is a great point. Yeah, it would definitely be preferable to get these all wireless. Maybe one day.
Beauty! Not available in UK?
@MjJmediablogger Yep, it is! Just thrown a link to GAME in there (no sign on Amazon UK yet).
@FraserG excellent. Love that controller! Cheers mate, much appreciated.
@FraserG Could you please confirm whether these Hyperkin articles are paid advertisements or not?
I ask because the website only covers Hyperkin and ignores the superb launches 8BitDo and GameSir put out for Xbox every other month. If you got that Hyperkin exclusivity bag I won't fault you for that but some transparency would be nice.
You know, for journalism's sake.
@TheLastHarbinger We've covered multiple 8BitDo and GameSir products in the past - here are some examples:

In terms of Hyperkin, these are not paid advertisements and we'd always make it very clear if they were.
That said, we are very keen to highlight when they remake old Xbox controllers like this, as we always see a lot of interest from PX readers when it happens. Of all the controllers we've written about, it's these classic ones that generate the most engagement.
@nomither6 Wireless controllers work fine on PC as well.
@ZYDIO @JokerBoy422 That isn't true. There are multiple wireless third party controllers. Turtle Beach Stealth, Asus ROG Raikiri Pro. Even Power A has the XP-Ultra.
