Xbox strolled into July with a couple of big free-to-play releases ready to go, and it turns out, one of those free-to-play releases has ended up being a bit bigger than we were expecting - at least at launch.
In just seven days, Nexon's The First Descendant has hit over 10 million players across all platforms, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This is a huge milestone for the team, who've taken to Twitter to celebrate the achievement.
Sure, this is a free-to-play release so anyone can download and try the game out, but to get that much attention on a new IP in 2024 seems pretty impressive to us. Clearly, the dev expects to be in it for the long haul as well, with the team "continuing this journey together" with its players in the coming months.
That work has already started too. A week ago today we heard about the debut Xbox patch for The First Descendant, which made some notable changes, and there's already been a second patch in the week since. There's seemingly lots more to come from The First Descendant, then!
