We all know that the wait for Crash 4 was an agonising one - after all, the team even referenced the 20+ year gap since Crash 3 with their 'It's About Time' subtitle for the game. Since then, we've seen Crash Team Rumble release as a spin-off, but the wait for 'Crash 5' could turn out to be another long one.
Taking to social media, ex-Toys for Bob artist Nicholas Kole has spoken about the apparently cancelled Crash Bandicoot 5. Kole claims that "some day folks will hear about the Crash 5 that never was" - going on to say that the project was ultimately cancelled alongside something else the artist was working on at a different developer.
Language warning for the below tweets*
There's not much detail here of course, but even just a mention of Crash 5 is interesting, if also a little heartbreaking considering whatever was in the works seems to have been cancelled. That's not to say that more Crash in some form isn't coming though - Kole is now at developer Phoenix Labs and likely isn't in the know about Crash plans anymore.
We also know that Toys for Bob is now an independent developer working on something with Microsoft - but what that something is remains to be seen. It'd be nice to see more Crash from the team, or maybe even a return to Spyro, but who knows at this point!
What would you have done with Crash 5? Tell us all about the direction you'd take down below.

Just want the crash and spyro games already out to drop on gamepads already 🤦
@Ricky-Spanish We need another price hike so that they can add those games /s
I'm of the opinion Microsoft should actively try to fill the gaps that the third-parties on their platform fail to fill themselves, and it looks like this cancelled Crash Bandicoot game would have done exactly that.
Maybe it's good news. I loved N.sane Trilogy. 100% completed. I haven't played 4, but some people have told me that the characters and story are that kind of "modern" stuff for the sake of it and the picture shown above doesn't help.
@101Force With that agree, the only thing that Xbox is missing is games like Banjo, Crash, Spyro, Conker, Viva Piñata... Last Banjo game was an Xbox 360 title, same for Viva Piñata. Last Conker game was for the first Xbox.
@Banjo- it’s exactly what you think so I don’t think it’ll be your thing. I also not huge on Crash 4.
@Yousef- Too bad, looks like nothing can be plain simple these days.
@Banjo- yup. I believe the signs were there all along too. But it’s not all doom n gloom. There’s tons of new platformers out there are great, will likely be great and would be great if they’re made.
@Yousef- I'm open-minded, but I'm already tired of all this nonsense everywhere that I think will be dated soon because it's shoehorned and silly. I'm missing the noughties so much.
It’ll wear out. We’re getting tons of new, honest platformers. I’m optimistic. @Banjo-
Crash Bandicoot 5 would be absolutely epic, It’s good to have got Crash Bandicoot 4 but don’t want to have another long wait before another one.
