Larian Studios has today pulled back the curtain on the next major update for Baldur's Gate 3, and it includes an awesome new feature that'll be great for local co-op players in the form of something called "dynamic split-screen".
Once this arrives (and if you want to turn it on), you'll find that Baldur's Gate 3's split-screen will merge into a single view when you and your friend are within a certain distance of each other. This works both in and out of combat.
"Dynamic split screen mode is incoming! With our next update, friends will no longer be eternally confined to their side of the screen - because the power of friendship transcends all obstacles, including screen partitions."
"When playing in co-op, you’ll now have the option to have split screens merge into a single screen when you near one another. You can access this directly from the HUD and within the game settings, both in and out of combat."
Beyond this, there's loads of other great stuff to look forward to in Baldur's Gate 3 "Patch 7", including Honour Mode improvements and new evil endings. Mod support will also be rolling out for Xbox at some point in the near future, although it's debuting first on PC. Patch 7 will be available this September for all platforms - more details on all the specific changes can be found on the Baldur's Gate 3 Steam page.
That's not all either, as Larian has confirmed that crossplay support is still in the works for a later date, and the same goes for a photo mode. We're hoping Xbox mouse and keyboard support might be added eventually as well!
