We're about two and a half weeks away from Hellblade 2 releasing on Xbox Game Pass, and it looks like launch plans are kicking into gear over at Microsoft and Ninja Theory. Not only is the developer starting to "share something every day" from now until launch, but Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg has also talked more about Microsoft's plans for this upcoming first-party exclusive.
Greenberg has taken to Twitter to inform the community that he's just "had a great review with the team leading our big global & regional marketing plans to support Senua's Saga: Hellblade II" - and those plans include a 'cinema launch program', a global media campaign, something special from Iceland — where the game is set — and more.
"Had a great review with the team leading our big global & regional marketing plans to support Senua's Saga: Hellblade II. It all starts next week as we optimize leading up to launch and beyond. So many fun creative plans, to name a few:
- Global paid media campaign
- Cinema launch program
- Out of home advertising
- Brand partnerships
- Special activation from Iceland
+ So much moreExcited to share more & celebrate this immersive & visually stunning masterpiece from the team @NinjaTheory. In the meantime you can Wishlist, pre-order, pre-install on Game Pass, Xbox, & PC/Steam to get ready for the big launch on May 21st!"
Okay, so, we're not entirely sure what all of this means for us as fans sitting at home, but still, it's sounding like the big hype machine is about to kick into overdrive for Hellblade 2. We're intrigued to see how Microsoft goes about marketing this one in the coming weeks and months, especially with it being Xbox's first big exclusive of the year.
Developer Ninja Theory is doing its part as well, though. Every day this month it plans to share new information on Hellblade 2, starting with the above screenshot, a sneak peek at PC Ultrawide support, and just a few moments ago - all of the recommended specs for the PC version of Hellblade 2.
Wherever you're planning on playing Ninja Theory's upcoming Hellblade sequel, you can access Hellblade 2 through Xbox Game Pass - on May 21st, 2024.
Excited for Hellblade 2 to finally come out? Tell us when, where and how you'll be playing it down below!

The first game was very boring hopefully this is better
I don’t think anyone is concerned that it won’t be visually stunning.
More people have worries about the game play
The fact this game comes out in less than 3 weeks and there’s not even ONE advertisement for it is just baffling.
I honestly think Microsoft should let go the entire marketing department for Xbox as they’ve been failing or not even trying for over a decade, just let the Activision team run the marketing for all Xbox, they’ve proven to have wildly successful marketing campaigns every single year when a CoD drops.
@IOI
I agree. MS has spent the marketing dollars but I don't think they are getting the reach that they need. Just look at how AKB games sell, it is obvious their marketing is top notch. It seems like everything they release is either a popular cult classic, or wildly successful game.
@Ricky-Spanish I don't know what the point of making this tremendously different from the original would be.
Anyway, existing footage shows it's much in line with the original: grim, weighty, and atmospheric.
I am greatly looking forward to this.....but I hate that this is digital only. Same with Alan Wake 2.
Im so hyped for this game. Another GOTY contender for sure. Thats how much faith I got.
Ok but I don’t want to stand and look no or puzzles … can it be more like god of war , prince of Persia or Assassin creed style in terms of action… it’ll be a another scorn .. overhyped
@Ralizah I don't need it to be to different just a bit more entertaining maybe it's just not my type of game
@IOI 100% agree, not to mention this game in particular would fit well for television viewing, or even YouTube but I get Xbox ads from time to time there.
Still though, Microsoft should definitely do some more in-house cleaning and focus on their marketing team and quality output.
