Xbox yesterday lifted the lid on its new Fire Vapor Special Edition Xbox Series X|S controller. Attached to the reveal was the tagline "feel the burn today", and unsurprisingly this didn't go down very well after it announced four studio closures.
In an update, it seems Microsoft has now made a quick edit to the controller news, removing all evidence of the tagline. It's now been swapped to a line about the growing selection of Vapor series Xbox controllers.
The studios impacted by Xbox's latest round of shutdowns include the Hi-Fi RUSH and Ghostwire: Tokyo team at Tango Gameworks, Redfall developer Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Games (Mighty DOOM), and Roundhouse Studios - with this team joining ZeniMax Online Studios.

MS probably should have given the studio closures a day before revealing more stuff, as no matter what it is it wouldn’t be received well.
Yeah, the brand is dead. Just turn it into a soulless ‘Microsoft Gaming’ already and chug it in the corner next to Facebook Gaming, Prime Gaming and Google Stadia already.
And the self-immolation from Microsoft/Xbox division continues. They are now showing more insensitivity and tone deafness than Martian rocks....

@Friendly i have a feeling that the reason they actually design so many of these controllers is for the windows/PC user base. xbox controllers are the standard go-to and default button inputs for pc gaming that has controller support , and xbox on windows is pretty solid.
Gamers, we have heard you loud and clear. You want games, games, games. So we have closed 4 studios and released some new hardware.

@nomither6 Yeah Xbox controllers have basically become the standard for PC gaming. Yeah you can use a PS controller, but most PC games are designed with the Xbox controller in mind, and Xbox controllers have native compatibility with Windows, everything just works. They are definitely sold to a wider audience than just Xbox consoles.
Where the heck is the new controller that leaked and said coming May 2024? Thats the one i really want, i will be trading in my 2 and getting 2 of the newer ones with haptics and quieter buttons.
My comment has little to do with the article but I think this looks awesome and I may buy it.
