Dying Light Is Ridiculously Cheap Right Now On Xbox, And It Has A Free Next-Gen Upgrade

If you consider yourself a zombie fan and haven't tried this yet then I say go for it! In my opinion it was the best zombie game of the previous generation and top five all time for me personally. It's got the b-movie soundtrack and score, excellent traversal mechanics and most importantly, an incredibly scary/high octane night and day cycle. The story is fine but you didn't come here for that. File with hidden gems like Mad Max.

@TJ81 I haven't played this. They say that the sequel is bad, but I don't know either. I'm curious about the first one since it's so cheap now.

@Banjo- I played about 15 hours of the sequel then quit but that was early days. It's larger and tries for a deeper story but it (initially) failed to bring that heightened sense of fear at night and had some hit and miss mechanics. That said, it has been significantly patched and is supposedly a pretty good experience in it's own right now - certainly better than Dead Island 2 but I'm not returning because my backlog is ever growing!

@TJ81 It might also be that I was confused by the negative comments about both Dying Light 2 and Dead Island 2 LOL.

Note: the Xbox store doesn't mention 4K for Dying Light on Series X, but according to FraserG's old article, it has a 4K video mode on top of two other modes. I guess it's one of those patched titles that are not officially optimised for Series X... although they are.

@TJ81 Dead Island 2 is much more honest and fun game than Dying Light 2, mate.

DL2 promised so many things that completely vanished from it on release, such as deep and well-thought city development, relations with fractions and those story turns and conversations affecting so many other things. In fact they released limited game with bugs and in poor technical condition. Gladly after years of patches things changed a bit a now it is a much better game (with still the same problems though).

DI2 promised a brainless zombie slaughter fun... and delivered right the same thing. It is bright, funny and bloody game with detachable limbs, crazy characters, humor and quite-an-average story.

But overall I'd rather recommend Dead Island 2 over Dying Light 2. Especially while DI2 is available with Game Pass at the moment.

@Banjo- Dying Light is very, very good. I jsut grabbed it for this price, haven't played it in a very long time! Most people consider the first one to be superior to the sequel. Despite being a first person zombie game, its very different to dead island.

@Banjo- while I absolutely LOVED the original Dying Light I actually enjoy the sequel better, now this hasn't always been the case. At launch the game was in an extremely rough state BUT over the past 2 years the game has been fleshed out (pun intended) in so many ways. They've updated the parkour movement so advanced players can run with zero assists, although assists are there for players like me lol they've added new enemies, characters, stories and best of all firearms. The game truly feels like the Dying Light sequel is fan deserved. I hope you guys play the 1st one fall in love and get to experience the 2nd one! Happy gaming ✌️
