We're just about at the halfway point of 2024, and we've got a strong new contender for Game of the Year on Xbox... or at the very least, expansion of the year. Of course, we're talking about Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
As things stand, Metacritic places the Elden Ring DLC in first place when it comes to the best Xbox releases of 2024, beating the previous leader in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Here's how the top 10 looks right now:
- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree (94)
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (92)
- Tekken 8 (89)
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (87)
- Unicorn Overlord (87)
- Botany Manor (87)
- Persona 3 Reload (87)
- Dragon's Dogma 2 (86)
- Still Wakes The Deep (84)
- Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy (83)
As you can see, there's another new entry in the top 10 here in the form of Still Wakes The Deep, which just launched on Xbox Game Pass earlier this week. WWE 2K24 also holds a review average of 83 but sits in 11th place (for whatever reason!), while Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 notably drops into 19th position with its average of 80.
It's interesting to see so many recent indies just outside the top 10 as well, with Paper Trail in 12th place (82), Indika in 13th place (82), Horizon Chase 2 in 14th place (81) and Go Mecha Ball in 15th place (81). It's easy to overlook some of these, but clearly we're getting some amazing new indie releases on Xbox this year!
