Way back in 2022, Ubisoft decided to go back to the drawing board with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake - handing development duties over to Ubisoft Montreal in the process. We've had a few small updates from the team since, but a new report claims that it could be some time until we see this one come to Xbox.
In short, Insider Gaming is reporting that the game has basically been started from scratch since Ubi Montreal took over - despite the team originally intending to "build upon the work" done by the previous dev team. Insider Gaming claims that it's seen new footage of the game, and it's very much in the early stages of development at the moment.
The report also says that Ubisoft Montreal is going for a more "realistic approach" with its rebooted remake, and that everything from visuals to animations and combat mechanics are being re-worked for this Sands of Time re-do. Several sources close to the outlet also note that we could get "a more prominent update on the project soon".
This is reported information at the moment, with Ubisoft responding that it doesn't comment on "rumours and speculation" when questioned by the outlet. The last we heard of this project in an official capacity was back in November last year, when Ubisoft Montreal said it had "passed an important internal milestone" in late 2023.
