Since the release of the excellent Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration a couple of years ago, we've seen a couple of Xbox titles from the company in Rollercoaster Tycoon Adventures Deluxe and the Pong-inspired qomp2, and now we're about to get another two games based on some of the company's classic franchises.
The first of these is Lunar Lander Beyond, which is a fresh take on the "Lunar Lander" series that originated in the arcades back in 1979. Later in the year, we're also going to get NeoSprint, which brings the Atari "Sprint" series back to life in the form of an 8-player arcade racer with "robust" track building tools.
Both of these look pretty interesting, so we'll leave this more details about each of them down below:
Lunar Lander Beyond (April 23)
Guide a roster of colorful pilots, eclectic advisors and state-of-the-art landers through a taxing series of missions. Deliver cargo, retrieve resources, and rescue stranded pilots as you navigate a mysterious universe of moons and planets.
NeoSprint (Summer TBD)
The exhilarating Atari racing classic “Sprint” series returns! NeoSprint zooms back to life as a single screen arcade racer for up to 8 players, paired with a robust track builder and intuitive sharing tools, ensuring a racing experience that satisfies speed demons and architects alike.

ATARI IS BACK BIGTIME.
Yuck, what is this, 1991 remastered, lol!? Anything for a buck I guess. I really want 2024+ AAA+ Starfield+ single-player sci-fi campaign games with no microtransactions.
And kart racers, can never have enough good kart racers like CTR:NF or NKR.
@TheGiraffe Not every game is for everyone.
I really like the stuff Atari puts out. I have several of the Recharged games and play them often. I also have Akka Arrh which is a fantastic and very trippy game from Jeff Minter.
And of course Atari 50.
Atari is putting out some great stuff lately, and I can't wait to play these.

"Not every game is for everyone." - Yep, you know it to be so, Testify!
NEO Sprint... Yes! Please... 😊
@TheGiraffe so you basically want something that isnt going to happen? Good luck with that. Times have changed and so called "AAA" games are dead. They are nothing but manufactured products. What i mean by that is innovation and new and interesting ideas are gone. All those big so called "AAA" devs and publishers do is rehash whats already sold well in the past, and make them from the ground up to push microtransactions and battlepasses.
Core gameplay mechanics, story, quality and quality control are all out the window. The passion for making a great, interesting game and experience is long gone in the AAA space. Now its just a job and the game is nothing more then a vessel to nickel and dime people to death to please investors. Companies are not interested in making games for gamers. All they are interested is the bottom line. How can we appeal to the most people as possible, at the lowest cost possible with the highest return in profits as possible.
And the thing is, no matter how many people complain about it, it dont matter. Because they are still buying these "games", they are still paying for in game currency and battlepasses, and these companies continue to bring in record profits while laying off thousands of employees. Its never going to stop until the consumers stop throwing money at them.
At least atari seems to be bringing the simple basic fun back into gaming, making games they want to make, not what greedy investment firms tell them to make. If you dont like it, maybe you can make your own game. Plenty if free game engines out there to use for you to learn on amd make your own game that you would want to play.
Neo Sprint looks like a lot of fun for me and my kids. I like finding simple fun games I can play with them in short bursts without huge commitments so we have time to do other things too. It would be nice if Intelivision went this route — Shark Shark is okay but was built for a reimagined Intelivision systems that will likely never be) Keeping my fingers crossed for a new Frog Bog
