We've heard complaints about the search bar across Xbox, PC and the Xbox mobile app for quite a few years now, and Microsoft seems keen to remedy them with the use of AI-assisted tools as part of an "improved search experience".
For now at least, it appears this is exclusive to Xbox consoles, and it's only rolling out for a random subset of Xbox Insiders at first. Here's a bit more information on what to expect when the feature goes public:
"Today, a new search experience enhanced by AI is available to a random selection of players. This experience provides improved results and greater flexibility, allowing you to search for any feature or criteria you can imagine, including concepts like “cozy games” or “arcade racers.” To get started, launch the Microsoft Store, and try searching for something new!"
You'll know when the improved search functionality is rolled out as you'll see a green lightbulb with the word "New" next to it, along with a prompt that you can "search for a lot more now". It seems the main idea here is to allow for more generic searches than in the past, with an example being "cozy games I can play with my friends".

Usually, Xbox Insider features become available to everyone within a few weeks (or maybe even a couple of months), so assuming there are no teething issues in the meantime, it should start to appear on your Xbox console very soon.

I can't stop doing searches , I've even searched games that the lead character dies at the end
I guess I'm the on the opposite end of things with AI. I'm not saying it doesn't have it's purpose. But trying to force it in every part of my life isn't what I consider a feature I was looking forward to. Direct input and machine learning (not AI searches), would be a nice place to start. I feel like I paid full price for beta hardware with the Series X, now Sony is positioned to do what Microsoft bragged about during the Series X launch. And all we get is AI search.... Not really the gaming feature I wanted.
Not sure AI will help when the basics are so poor. I recall wanting the Resi 4 demo (called “Resident Evil 4 CHAINSAW Demo” on the store) and the only word it would find it with was “Chainsaw”; even “Resident Evil 4” wouldn’t return it!
It one of the many aspects of the Xbox interface that needs some serious work. I’d like to see MS stop chasing the latest buzzwords and get the fundamentals of the OS right!
I propose the Xbox's best game is the Microsoft Drinking Game. Every time Satya or his underlings say "AI" drink a shot. See? You're already having more fun than playing anything on this year's Game Awards.
give a.i. to the perfect dark devs to speed things up.
I don't think AI is going to help an extremely basic text search.
What WOULD help is every game only having a single entry and every edition, DLC, etc, under that. Instead of showing 7 editions and 100 dlc when you type a game name.
@InterceptorAlpha This would be SO helpful when trying to look for games on sale.
If it’s anything like Edge they can keep it
I'm still waiting for my wishlist to return.
Remind u can't search pier solar and great architects on console.
