It's fair to say we haven't exactly been enamoured with Xbox's search feature over the past few years, and it seems Microsoft hasn't been either, as a brand-new search page has begun rolling out for Xbox consoles today.
Launching to a subset of users (with more to follow in the future), this new search page includes gallery-style results, visible filter categories, a handy YouTube feature for movies and TV shows, and more.
Here's how Xbox's Major Nelson describes it:
"Starting to roll out today to a subset of Xbox consoles – you will be able to discover a refresh of the console search page. This includes a sleek new look, gallery-style results, visible filter categories navigable with RB/LB, the option to ‘search on YouTube’ within the Movies & TV tab, and more."
Hopefully this'll turn out to be a big improvement over the old search feature, which sometimes made it difficult to find exactly what you were looking for. The Xbox app on Android and iOS have also suffered with this problem in recent years, although Microsoft did implement efforts to improve the search functionality on those platforms last September.

Got it! You can view achievements alot easier now for games you don't have. Very convenient. Thank you.

@Kaloudz Frankly, I found it embarrassing. Some specific searches with definitely correct results sometimes just wouldn't be there.
The UI looks nice but I wonder if they fixed the problem where when you spell a game wrong, it cant find it.
It would also be nice if your could search by publisher/developer and keywords like "anime games" or "JRPGs".
So what has been available on ps store and Nintendo for ages then? Now all they need to do is catch up to the 21st Century and re-enable store features on the app!
Why do they think is appropriate to only show six at a time? Really needs a list view. Steam is leagues better for finding things than any console market to date.
I had to search "chainsaw" to find the resident evil 4 demo, so any improvement would be welcome. The Store on Xbox is smooth to use but the underlying function is terrible!
Seems to be actually be worse now.
I used to be able to search for "demos", hit menu, and then I would be able to press a "demos" button to see all the demos.
But now searching "demos" does nothing.
So good job Microsoft, another mismatched less good part of the Xbox ecosystem.
