March is going out with a bang when it comes to Xbox Game Pass! Three games are coming to the service today, including our very first Activision Blizzard game in the form of Diablo 4.
Here's an introduction to all of today's new Xbox Game Pass titles, along with some handy links to our Pure Xbox reviews of Diablo 4 and Open Roads:
Diablo 4 (Console, PC) - Later Today
"The demon Lilith and the angel Inarius united to create the world of Sanctuary in their desire to escape the Eternal Conflict between Heaven and Hell. But now, decades after the events of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, they are bitter enemies who have resorted to war against each other with their respective followers."
Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 (Console, PC, Cloud)
"The world’s raddest cars are back and taking the fun to the next level! Race over 130 vehicles with crazy new mechanics and even more vehicle types. Plus, build your tracks with stunning new environments and different game modes to have fun off and online!"
Open Roads (Console, PC, Cloud) - Later Today
"Long-lost family secrets. Hints of a hidden fortune. And miles to go before they sleep. Tess Devine’s relationship with her mom has never been easy, but they’re about to set out together on a journey into the past that they’ll never forget."

Well at least we have hot wheels 2, eh?
@ParsnipHero Yeah saw that. Wondering what time Diablo drops. Going to guess its around 5pm GMT.
@Blue_Rover they normally are at 5 yh
Finally something decent on gp 👍
Nothing for me, but that's cool.
Nothing to excite me today. I've been waiting a long time for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes next month. I hope it lives up to my excitement!
I downloaded Hot Wheels because my daughter loves those things. With the first game, she loved to watch me play the tracks and she would open the blind boxes and just look at then from different angles. I hope that feature is still intact.
Definitely downloading Diablo... been looking forward to it. I quite enjoyed the previous Hot Wheels too, so will give that a go as well. It's a good month this one is 😊
The ABK floodgates really needs to burst next month. They shouldn't wait till Keigh3 to dump the rest. I'm begging them to drop the Crash & Spyro trilogies ASAP.
@FarmDog08
Waiting for that one too! It looks really good.
@Lup And I'm following the Suikoden 1&2 Remaster as my next purchase this year. Just need a release date.
Cant moan at these additions
If I were not so full of unplayed games elsewhere, I'd resub to GP for these, but I simply wouldn't have the time to play them. Hopefully I'll get to try when I resub for Avowed, in the meantime I know many GP subscribers will be very happy with these!
Finally, Diablo IV can be played for a price point that is actually what it's truly worth as a game.
Open Roads should be an excellent narrative driven game, I must say.
My suggestions for game pass growth are the ones below:
1) They should bring all Activision Blizzard Games on game pass in 2024, which means all Call of Duty titles, Diablo games, WoW, Warcraft rts series, Diablo games, Overwatch, Starcraft etc should come on game pass. That would be a great boost for gamepass' content and will attract many gamers to the service.
2) They should invest more on story driven games. Sony studios are known for making quality AAA story-driven games which are incredible popular for the mainstream audience. Microsoft could bring more story driven games or aqcuire studios that make good single play games like Remedy Entertaiment, Don't Nod, Moon Studios, Eidos Montreal/Cystal Dynamics etc etc.
3) They should bring more third party games on gamepass. Spencer said that they spent almost 1 bilion in 2023 for third party content. They should keep bringing day one third party releases but they could invest more money to bring older titles permanently on game pass.
A good idea is to bring massive jrpg/anime games from japanese publishers in order to attract japanese consumers. They can bring games like Naruto Storm Series, One Piece games, Dragonball games(Fighterz, xenoverse, kakarot), Demon Slayer, Mega man collection series, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Tales of Arise/Scarlet Nexus, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Tekken etc etc. All these games are popular franchises by japanese publishers, which are old but great titles. Microsoft doesn't need to spend 200$ millions to bring a new AAA game to the service. They could spend 300$ millions to bring 30 japanese titles on game pass, which will add value to the service.
4) The final step, which is optional, is to keep the huge spending spree and aqcuire big publishers like Embracer or Ubisoft. Ubisoft is good choice because it's a legendary publisher with a lot of popular franchises like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy etc etc. Ubisoft is a huge publisher with 40 internal studios and 20.000 employees. If Microsoft buys Ubisoft, Xbox will become the bigger publisher of all time with over 80 studios and 40,000 manpower. By comparison, Sony has 23 studios and 7,000 employees, while Nintendo has 7,000-8,000 workforce along with partners.
I already on Diablo on PC. The other two are not sufficiently interesting to me. Hot Wheels could get 20-60 minutes, I suppose.
Nice games for the Easter break UK i will play them.
Still waiting to see how Harold Halibut reviews (and is priced) before I think about going back to Gamepass.
Bought Diablo IV on release to play with friends but that game had nothing to offer after the incredibly good campaign which was a bummer. Thought this would end up being a 500+ hour game for me but was all the way done with it after around 40. Recommend playing the campaign if you haven't though, on GPU it's a no brainer.
@Phil-Spencer-Gate Regarding #2, Sony has a history in TV, film and music, so they tried to apply a pop culture approach to games. They try to make games look cool to people who don't play games. They started by "borrowing" from popular movies & IP (e.g. The Getaway imitating popular Guy Ritchie movies).
MS just did not seem to want to spend money on this. They focused on gameplay and were pretty tight with the wallet for too long. Services and multi-player were an important tool in bringing in more customers.
@BIG3 agreed. As an OG Diablo and D2 player I thought it was disappointing.
@UnusedBabyWipes not on GP but you can buy them trilogies from the Xbox store. The Spyro trilogy remaster for x/s is really smooth now. Quite a bit of stutter at launch. Must have released a patch as runs great now.
Already put a couple hours into D4. It's great thus far.
@theduckofdeath Sony is known for making blockbuster cinematics games. You're right that they have a long history with pop culture from their film/music divisions.
Microsoft has a more diverse portfolio with XBOX. You have all kind of games like game as a service, rts, fps, rpg games etc etc. However, I think that we will see more "cinematic games" from XBOX as well, because it's extremely popular in mainstream audience. We already expect games like Hellblade 2, Indianna Jones, Blade, Fable etc etc which are all story driven action adventure games....
As a PC gamers, these are the type of games that I really like to play. Games like God of War, Spiderman, Cyberpunk 2077, Gotham Knights, Guardians of the Galaxy, Final Fantasy 16, Last of Us etc etc.
I don't a have PS console, so I buy Sony's games on steam sales when they are available. But as a game pass subscriber, I expect more story driven games from XBOX.
Played Diablo for a day now and I can say it is one of the most boring games I‘ve ever played. Yawn …
