The highly-anticipated launch of the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection sadly didn't go to plan yesterday, with the game receiving plenty of negativity on social media - the main reason being the inadequate online servers.
Now, developer Aspyr has provided a response to the backlash, admitting that the servers suffered "critical errors" at launch, and the team has been working to try and stabilise them ever since. Here's the quote:
"We’d like to thank the Battlefront community for their overwhelming support and feedback for the STAR WARS™ Battlefront Classic Collection release."
At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser. Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages."
Obviously it's a disappointing start for a collection that had so much promise, but here's hoping Aspyr will be able to get things under control in the near future. There are a few other things that need addressing as well, such as the inability to invert the X-axis and Y-axis controls (something we've been informed is a "temporary" bug).
Despite the rocky launch, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has been selling well on Xbox so far, with the game catapulting into the "Top Paid" charts this week. Its ability to stay there will depend on Aspyr's post-launch support.
