A big reason behind Xbox's purchase of Activision Blizzard was to push further into the mobile market, and a new full-width advert on the Microsoft Store is certainly doing its best to point Xbox fans in that direction.
As spotted on Xbox consoles (including ours here at Pure Xbox HQ), Microsoft has begun heavily advertising Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile - a new iteration of the series' popular battle royale spin-off. The game went live this week on mobile storefronts, bringing back the mode's ever-popular 'Verdansk' map in the process.
While this release isn't specifically for Xbox — the main Warzone experience is available on console — Team Green is clearly still invested in selling it to Xbox customers. The game can be played with a modern bluetooth Xbox controller on mobile devices too, so you should be able to get an Xbox-like experience that way if you're so inclined.
Anyway, we just thought this was pretty interesting considering the new CoD game that's being advertised on Xbox, isn't actually on Xbox. Still, the team talked lots about Modern Warfare 3 being a big first-party release late last year, with Microsoft keen to let the world know that it now owns the biggest first-person shooter series on the planet.

When the deal with Sony is over. MS needs to promote COD as much as they can and get them all into GP. That could move the needle a little for them. It won’t move 10’s of millions of consoles but it should move a few million i would hope.
why do people like to play on a tiny screen? tvs are bigger and cheaper than ever yet everyones moving to tiny screens.
@rustyduck
I've seen people play on the iPhone 15 Pro Max which is way over 1000 USD, for that, you could get a 1440p monitor @ 120Hz and a Xbox Series X, in fact probably even less.
@rustyduck do pc monitors count as “tiny screens” ?
Mmh not available in the Netherlands...
There is cross progression with the console version so it's not that weird to promote a way to level up on the go.
I'm surprised this one isn't going to the switch. Some pretty old phones are listed as compatible. 45 million pre registers on mobile is wild though.
@rustyduck Convenience. That's really it.
This is backwards. Microsoft need to be advertising console cloud gaming to mobile users. Not mobile games to console users. I mean, I have an Xbox, I am not going to play this mobile game.
