Xbox Game Pass is becoming quite a good place for smaller indie titles to thrive, especially those that could easily get lost in a sea of AAA shuffle on console platforms. And, this week brings another success story in the form of indie arena shooter-roguelite Brotato.
Seaven Studio, who helped bring Blobfish's title to console platforms, has announced that Brotato has been installed more than a million times with the help of Xbox Game Pass. That's a huge number - congrats to the teams involved!
This might not equate to the same success as one million sales, but for a smaller team like this we'd imagine it's great to have so many people dip in and try their somewhat lesser-known titles. Again, congrats - huge win!
Other industry folks have spoken about the 'security' that Xbox Game Pass provides smaller teams - teams that don't have to rely on sales as much with the help of Microsoft bringing their titles to Game Pass. We might have to give Brotato a go and see what all the fuss is about now!
Have you tried this one out yet? Let us know if you're part of the million-strong so far!

Where is your Balatro review? Game is freaking fire.
Brotato reminds me of Robotron 2077 … playing in a seedy arcade with 80’s rock music blaring … except it is even more fun than that! Every game starts out basically the same but somehow each run feels different… the various weapons and add ons change how the game reacts and plays. Unless something special comes out later then this is your Indy GOTY folks! Definitely a manic, fun and addictive 10/10 masterpiece….
It’s good fun. Also, very handy for getting the daily achievement towards the 1,000 point reward - just a few minutes play in the morning is usually enough - there are over 80 achievements!
Excellent game! Own it on Mobile, PC, Switch, Xbox!
this is why gp has no value to me.
Still haven't tried this yet. I'll give it a shot soon but I didn't find something like vampire survivors sustainable honestly so I'm not sure I'll get a ton of mileage out of it.
I play this at work when I don't want to work
