Last month, Microsoft announced Xbox Indie Selects, a new program designed to highlight some of the platform's best and brightest indie titles that aren't available on Xbox Game Pass. A month on from introducing the new initiative, team Xbox has now unveiled its first collection for February 2024.
Six games are featured in total, with a price range of $19.99 to $29.99, depending on the title. There's a Pure Xbox favourite in here in the form of El Paso, Elsewhere, alongside five other hand-picked "recently launched" indie titles by the Xbox team. Here's the full Indie Selects list for February 2024, alongside their respective price points:
"The criteria is relatively simple: we look at games we consider to be Indies that have recently launched on Xbox, and the whole team votes. The top six vote-winners are our Indie Selects for the month."
- Lil Guardsman - $19.99 / £16.74
- Lil Gator Game - $19.99 / £16.74
- Laika: Aged Through Blood - $19.99 / £16.99
- El Paso, Elsewhere - $19.99 / £16.74
- Wizard With A Gun - $24.99 / £20.99
- The Talos Principle 2 - $29.99 / 24.99
To be honest, we'd have liked some sort of sales promotion to go alongside this Indie Selects list, especially as none of the titles are included in the Xbox Game Pass library. The two more expensive titles here do have free trials though, which is a bonus!
We'll have to see what this program brings to the table in the coming months, but for now, read up on why you should probably check out El Paso, Elsewhere down below.
Are there any titles in here you'd like to try out? Go ahead and discuss this debut lineup down in the comments!

I've bought Laika. Haven't tried yet, but looks really cool.
El Paso looks cool too, but I never liked Max Payne, so I'm not sure.
Talos 2 is a marvel, and Lil Gator Game is a cute and extremely fun romp; like a more evolved A Short Hike. I've got my eye on Lil Guardsman, but my backlog (and crippling Balatro addiction) take priority.
I’ve kind of been wanting Talos 2 but 60+ GB for a puzzle game is a lot of real estate for me. Have a bunch of big name games already juggling for space.
El Paso is a great game. Played it a few months back.
This is a nice bit of PR for indie games that DON'T make it to Game Pass. Good for all involved.
