We're now halfway through the second season of Paramount's Halo series with Episode 4 of Season 2 airing yesterday.
Leading into this episode, there was a lot of excitement about the Covenant's invasion of Reach finally getting underway. So we're curious to know at this point what everyone here on Pure Xbox thinks of this current season so far!
The latest episode has been praised by some, but there has also been plenty of conversation about the fact Master Chief's armor is now off-planet. Admittedly we didn't see a single Spartan suit-up in this episode, either.
So vote in our poll and tell us what you think of Season 2 so far, as well as the latest episode "Reach":

Waiting until all the episodes are out before I use a month free trial on Paramount+ to watch it. After the disappointment of the first series however I am very much looking forward to this new series. Seems like it should be a vast improvement
I'm enjoying season 2 more than season 1, season 1 had too much of Mass Effect 1 thing going on.
I am slightly bothered that they changed cortana again, I started to live the change in season 1 and they changed it to some odd place inbetween "classic" and season 1s design.
@pip_muzz I had to come back to season 1 when 2 came out. My tip to leave halo lore at the door.
Loving series 2 so far - they've concentrated much more on the Spartans and the war rather than side plots no one really cares about.
Hoping they keep the pirate / rebel stories to a minimum still and continue to follow Master Chief and his team, the focus has been much better and the action / special effects much improved too
I've only watched the first 2 episodes and I'm not sure if I'll watch more don't think it's any better than the first season imo. Hopefully the Fallout show is better I've got slightly more hope for that.
Removed - trolling/baiting
@Rangers420 probably it's best to set low expectations. This way you won't be disappointed and you can maybe enjoy it.
I'm just a bit bummed that the messed up the lore from the looks of the trailer. So yes, my expectations are low sp I hope it's at least enjoyable to watch.
@Tokugawa-Tsunayoshi or, hear me out. People might actually find it abysmal
@Tokugawa-Tsunayoshi I'm not a Sony fanboy but I wouldn't watch it so I didn't vote but I wouldn't say even if I was into it that it would be that great tbh
Well, it sucks. Sorry, but that's the truth. And Halo is my favorite game franchise of all time.
@Tokugawa-Tsunayoshi Or huge Halo fans that are nitpicking, like me.
@Tokugawa-Tsunayoshi if it never had halo in the name it would be a decent show but it does and it just doesn’t live up to the franchise
I love Halo (and have solo'd Legendary in every one of the games except War) and am currently replaying Infinite with a mate. I also thoroughly enjoyed the first season of the TV series because I was able to accept there would be necessary changes that make sense for a television show that are not required when playing a game.
I am yet to start the second season because I like to have access to the full series and then binge watch it, rather than wait a week between episodes. From all that has been said, I am really looking forward to it...
I loved half of the episodes last season and despised the other half. The 2nd season has been a far better outing, but still some hit and misses for me. This 4th episode particularly; I was hoping for Noble Team, there's these Chief ebbing quiet personal moments interlaced in the action sequences that I can't stand e.g. the out of place shop scene and interactions with Perez, like let's have a quaint chat with random people as the Covenant is wreaking Reach, Keyes has a big part on Alpha Halo in the game universe, but he's a cool character that the show benefited from and wasn't stoked by his arc here (trying to not put spoilers), and wasn't stoked with Vannak's part. A highlight is Ackerson for me, much better character in the show than lore and he's carrying this season.
@Fiendish-Beaver I'm about to replay Infinite too!
The show is improving massively every episode. Truly spectacular work.
@Fiendish-Beaver Friendly reminder to beware of possible spoilers! Some big things are happening that people may want to talk about.
That reminds me to redeem the Paramount+ trial code. TBH I don't like Paramount+ much. Their post 2015 Star Trek shows are all over the place. It made me nostalgic for ST Enterprise, a middling and flawed Star Trek if we are generous.
Thanks for the heads up, @BrilliantBill...!
@cardcrusher29 I felt like Strange New Worlds was overall solid. But please less Discovery-like stuff Paramount.
@BrilliantBill SNW has shown glimpses of competent teams and the wonder of space that older ST used to have. Discovery and Picard soured me on the franchise. Discovery literally has made too many jumps for me to get onboard. Maybe I expect too much from both Star Trek and Star Wars. The last 10 years have made me develop very grounded/modest expectation on both properties (film/tv wise)
Absolutely brilliant! The first 10 minutes blew s1 away, and they’ve built on the platform brilliantly. Some events in Ep 4 were shocking, and I’m keen to see where they go next.
Almost nothing is present in the show that made halo special. We waited 8 years for a "humanised" master chief, and a Keyes that was used a cheap plot device. Ego has driven this series forward from a point of disrespect for the games/books for the sake of being appealing.
Honestly I have enjoyed it. Even liked season one after episode 4 lol
Season 2 is much better so far imo
The first season had a slow start but I still really enjoyed it. As for the second season I think it’s fantastic. I find it rather annoying that many people are bagging on the show expecting an exact replica of the games. Almost every movie/show based on books or games do not replicate it perfectly. So, if you’re wanting an exact replication of the game, then play the game. This show is amazing story wise and graphic wise and this is something MANY of us have been waiting decades for. Every coming episodes improves drastically and gets better and I, along with many hope to see this show have more than 2 seasons.
I like the series.I am somewhat dissapointed with some of the characters and the storyline being changed. I hope somewhere they can work in Noble team, Blue team.
