It's hard to believe it's been five years since the release of Metro Exodus, but that's the exact anniversary the game is celebrating today, first arriving on Xbox One (as well as PS4 and PC) all the way back on February 15th, 2019!
As part of the occasion, the official Metro account on Twitter has revealed that the game has now sold over 10 million copies across all platforms. There was also a slight tease for the next mainline Metro game, as you can see below:
If you haven't played Metro Exodus yet, the great news is that it's received a massive discount as part of this week's Xbox sales. You can pick up the base version for £3.74 / $4.49 or the Gold Edition for just £5.24 / $5.99!
- Metro Exodus (Xbox Store) - £3.74 / $4.49
- Metro Exodus Gold Edition (Xbox Store) - £5.24 / $5.99
- Metro Saga Bundle (Xbox Store) - £7.49 / $8.99
This is absolutely worth a purchase if you're a fan of story-driven first-person shooters, and the rest of the games in the series are as well - so it's a good job all of those are on sale too, including the big Metro Saga Bundle you see above!

Don't play on series s it's terrible but a good game just not ported well at all
@Kaloudz It has been some time since I have played it, but as I recall, it is similar to Gears 5 campaign wherein you are in a somewhat open world, can explore for collectibles and supplies or just head straight to the objective. The Metro games prior to this were more of corridor shooters, similar to older Gears titles.
@Kaloudz No, nothing like Borderlands. It is a mix of STALKER and ...well...let's see — it is a more modern and focused STALKER with a heavier narrative. Maybe a little like Far Cry (not the amusement park aspect, though) with smaller areas. Open-region not open-world. Metro is grounded other than mutant creatures.
The missions are chapter-based. There are survival aspects (health, gas mask, radiation, oxygen), managing your ammo, finding the correct ammo, and understanding how some of the homemade guns work. Better to sneak around, avoid enemies or get the drop on them. They are smart enough to hunt you down.
Metro Exodus is one of the most atmospheric games. Wind, heavy storms, explosions. The guns also sound incredible, and change based on your environment. The first time I fired the magnum was out in the open, and it sounded amazing. There is appropriate echo and reverb.
Exodus is a good game. But I thought the change to semi-open world made the game worse than the first two and I missed The Metro which was one of the most atmospheric locations in a game since Bioshock.
One of the first games I played on Series X with its free upgrade. Amazing game. When mugs defend paid for upgrades, I like to bring up this game. Still looks amazing today.
Question - is the metro saga bundle for $8.99 with all 3 games optimized for series x ? If not I'm going to probably just get the Exodus Gold edition for $5.99 which I do see says in the description that it's optimized for series x/s. Also, for anyone that's played these titles, should I play the first two before Exodus? Opinions?
A lot of time has passed since I completed the first two (hell, even since Exodus at this point). I recall that they were good and not too long. You may want to play them to better understand what is going on. Exodus has a graphical leap, so you may not recognize all the characters right away.
The games were definitely upgraded on PC. That may have carried over to Xbox.
@eire-shabba I thought it played good but the pop-in is very aggressive. On internal levels its plays fine and isn’t noticeable but outside the draw distance is almost immersion breaking as the draw distance is very close for stuff like vegetation. It made me stop playing it, I would’ve preferred at 30fps option with better draw distance.
@ScoTTieDLighT - Metro 2033 and Last Light are both playable at 120fps on Series X, they're 1080p but the image quality is excellent. Definitely recommend playing them in release order.
@DaddyDuder I still haven't played tru the game over this I own a series s so I'm not I tech snob but some of the game goes sub hd which is not good enough and they could of dropped the ray tracing on the game as well to help stuff out just a lazy port for the series s But on series x I'm sure the game looks perfect
