We've got another big Xbox Game Pass confirmation for January 2024! It's been announced today that Palworld, which has been attracting major attention over the past few years, will be launching with Game Pass on January 19th.
As we mentioned last year, this basically looks like Pokémon with guns, although there's actually a lot more to it than that. Apparently, the focus is on monster hunting, survival and crafting above all else, and you can use your "Pals" to fight, traverse the land, make them work to produce goods for you, or you can even eat them to help stay alive!
"Embark on an open-world adventure through Palworld, where you can discover and capture over 100 Pals! Unveil the secrets of this mysterious land, overcome formidable bosses, and build powerful bases. Use your Pals to do tasks for you and automate entire production lines.
In this game, you can peacefully live alongside mysterious creatures known as Pals or risk your life to drive off a ruthless poaching syndicate. Pals can be used to fight, or they can be made to work on farms or factories. You can even sell them or eat them!"
Palworld will be launching on Xbox Game Pass in "Xbox Game Preview" form when it arrives next week, which means it's an early access title for now. The plan is for it to remain that way for at least a year, with the development team hoping to add new monsters, make balance adjustments and implement new content during that time.
Anyway, this looks absolutely ridiculous and we're definitely excited to see what it's all about when it arrives on Xbox Game Pass next Friday. Hopefully it will have been worth the wait - it's something we've had our eye on for a while!

There aren’t many good Pokemon-likes out there. I’m hoping something like this which doesn’t strictly adhere to the worst aspects of Pokemon may actually be good.
(Coromon and Nexomon are the only good Pokemon-likes IMO)
Not a big fan of farming games… seems like micromanaging but may be fun….
I could see Microsoft purchasing Pocket Pair as that's two exclusives in a row from the Japanese studio.
Not gonna lie.....I'm playing that. Looks pretty good and there better be an achievement for eating one of them things.
There is a small yellow creature with a lightning bolt tail at 0:17, you've got to wonder if Pokémon might want to have a word about that!
My brother showed me this last year and it cracked me up. This looks too amusing to not try lol. Looking forward to it.
@Krzzystuff My first time hearing about this, the designs alone look promising, I'm playing for sure.
@VoidPunk
Did you try Cassette Beasts ? I found it really really enjoyable
Pokémon with guns is the only way I'd play Pokémon
@umeandgames it's my first time hearing about it as well. Pokemon was great when I was a kid but the new ones suck so hard. This looks very promising, so I'm trying it and we'll see how it goes
@Yakaaa
I did. Wasn’t for me. Glad you enjoyed it though.
Wow! Didn’t realise it was coming out so soon, it seemed to disappear from the grid. Usually not a good sign but hopefully it’s excellent
@themightyant they’ve been posting updates on their YouTube channel. Just no one covered them.
Dont get too caught up everyone. Early access, means bugs and glitches galore. I will play it because it looks fun. But I'm not expecting anything near a finished game.
RIP, seeing "Xbox Game Preview" is enough to deter my interest completely. Same with Slime Rancher 2 and Turbo Golf Racing.
You think Nintendo would just throw Xbox a bone and give us a proper Pokémon game I'm sure loads of Microsoft games will be coming to Nintendo in the coming years
@Kaloudz To be perfectly frank I don't know the first thing about copyright law, but I know Nintendo are quite litigious. I can only assume palworld has done it's homework and are confident they're in the clear.
Anyway I hope those who give it a go enjoy the game and happy gaming for 2024
Anyone happen to know if this game has crossplay support?
@Kaloudz It won't have been 18 months until March. I could see them keeping it a month or two longer if they're a bit more behind than they'd hope, but I think the dynamic weather update was the last big update for Early Access.
@eire-shabba Nintendo is way too protective of their IPs, even Second-Party ones, to let that happen. If anything I'm surprised Nintendo haven't okayed SMT V or Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 for the Xbox.
@Kaloudz Last update was November 14th adding Dynamic Weather and some things from the first game. iirc there's only one more big update they wanna do before full release, so it might be a little more than 18 months but not THAT much more. So unless something terrible happens I'd say plan on it being done first half of this year.
@Kaloudz It's There's no official roadmap so I'm just going off what they've said in the past. Their '''schedule''' was the update in February, another for general fixes and QoL changes, the Dynamic Weather in November, and the last thing they mentioned sounded like a new area. Take it with a grain of salt since the said Dynamic Weather update was delayed, which means the last one they mentioned is too, and they're only really mentioning stuff within the month or so of it happening.
But unless they're REALLY behind or decided to make more changes, First Half or just outside in Summer 2024 seems like the general ballpark. Again, take it with a grain of salt, like you said, they're quiet until they have something to talk about. Which... is honestly refreshing compared to other companies over promising & under delivering by sharing things too early that might not even happen.
I got so many advertisement for this game on youtube and twitter that I'm beginning to think this game isn't real lol. I wish it's a single player game though.

@Kaloudz
I hope Ark 2 comes out in early access, any indie developed multiplayer game really should. It's the best way to test the servers and not charge someone full price before they know its ready for primetime.
@Kaloudz
Early Access doesn't mean just a piece of a game. Slime Rancher 2 for instance is a fully fleshed out game. It's in early Access because it's development team is small and still polishing it from feedback and I'm sure they are adding more to the game. But it's just a bigger more feature filled version of Slime Rancher
@Kaloudz
Lol that does sound super silly
@Kaloudz
Then you could simply stop caring about a meaningless gamerscore and actual be a gamer who plays games
@Kaloudz
I pity that mentality you will truly miss out on some great gaming experiences
