Today's Xbox Developer Direct kicked off with a fresh look at the upcoming Obsidian RPG Avowed, giving us some behind-the-scenes insights alongside brand-new gameplay footage ahead of the game's release later this year.
Oh, and we got a release window as well! Avowed will officially arrive for Xbox Series X, Series S and PC in Fall 2024.
You can check out the Xbox Dev Direct video up above, and we'll throw the description for the game below.
"Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment. You are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague. You discover a personal connection to the land itself and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save the island and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?"

I'm really excited for Avowed and Ara.
This game looks great. I'm excited to play around with the different combat loadouts.
Looks great. Xbox about to have a huge year.
I can't wait for this to come out. Gives me enough time for another playthrough of The Outer Worlds or Fallout New Vegas!
Love the key art! So beautiful. The game looks like loads of fun.
Unpopulat opinion, but I didn't like Skyrim. This looks more like what I wanted since then.
This looks really good and the gameplay looks fun. Can't wait for this and Indy.
Really liked how Avowed is shaping up. Probably will end up being a purchase when it releases! Gotta start saving up those Microsoft Points. 😁
Why is there no 3rd person mode.
@Lup this is a poor attempt at copying Skyrim but you do you
Really happy to see how this ones shaping up... the game looks as fun as Id hoped for a Skyrim fan, but has its own look.
I can see myself losing many hours in this game 😊
There’s things I like and things I don’t like about this trailer with the art style, but I felt the same way about the Outer Worlds and ended up liking that one, so I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this one later in the year. New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all time, and Obsidian’s not let me down yet, so I’m optimistic even if I’m unsure. Glad we have developers we can trust.
I'm not sure what I was expecting from Avowed, but it wasn't this. Outerworlds was really fun, but slapping in different textures and going "floaty melee" looks a tad....eh.
I have a gut feeling these" moral choices ' are going to just be the same thing Outerworlds offered.
Combat looks like a mess .....damn
I want to play it but this looks unfinished.. looks choppy and not smooth . Needs another year to bake
@LuciaThicc Had to check out which games they have released previously and you are not wrong. Obsidian got a solid catalog.
@TheSimulator You must have just ignored that Fall 24 release date then.
Game of the show for me but would like to more about the story just hope it's less glitched than starfield
@Rob3008 yea needs another year like what I said
The more they've shown of this game the more disappointed I am. This doesn't even look close to the initial trailer. It looks like an outdated attempt to rip off Elder Scrolls. What are we dong MS???
@FatalBubbles what are you smoking, I want some!!! It looks exactly like the reveal trailer 😂
Combat looks janky.
Not a fan of the artstyle/creature designs either.
So sadly not what I expected.
But will still give it a try on Game Pass.
@InfamousOrange The quality of graphics and feel of the game (much darker/mature) in the reveal trailer are not even close to what the game is now. This has been talked about a ton over the last three years.
Didn’t hype me but I am willing to try on game pass. I didn’t enjoy outer worlds so I hope this is better.
@FatalBubbles What has been talked about over the last 3 years?! There hasn't been anything to talk about for the last 3 years. The reveal trailer came out 3 years ago and nothing else until the direct days ago. The lighting looks a little different, I'll give you that, but it's pretty flipping spot-on from that reveal trailer.
@InfamousOrange This trailer from 7 months ago did not go over well.
