Now this is one heck of a surprise! Xbox-owned developer Arkane Lyon is officially making a Marvel's Blade game. We heard rumblings of Arkane showing up at The Game Awards, but we didn't expect this!
Anyway, the team's debut trailer is right there up above, and it certainly delivers on the hype. We don't know much about platforms yet and whether this is an Xbox exclusive or not — it appears quite early in development — but here's some more information on what to expect:
"Marvel’s Blade game will take players to a quarantined section of Paris in the middle of a supernatural emergency. Vampires have emerged, terrorizing the city of lights and forcing Parisians to shelter inside their homes at night to wait for sunrise.
In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead. From Bethesda and Arkane Lyon, the studio that brought you Dishonored and “DEATHLOOP”, Marvel’s Blade is a mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris, now in development in collaboration with Marvel Games."
Tell us if this is the biggest TGA 2023 surprise down below. We reckon it could be!

One hell of a surprise, hope its up to the level of the Spidey games and Guardians and i hope it gets Arkane back in top form.
I expect this to be Xbox exclusive. Major W for MS.
Hoping it's not like Generic-Man. Don't really like Arkane but we'll see.
This character needs to be a Xbox staple like Spiderman is with Sony, if not what the hell are you doing Microsoft/Xbox.
Sony now has Marvel's Spider-Man and Kojima's Death Stranding.
Xbox now has Marvel's Blade and Kojima's Overdose.
Interesting future ahead!
its probably gonna be Xbox exclusive. Xbox should have their own Marvel game now.
@Tharsman Sony also has Wolverine.
I hope Microsoft keeps this one.
Sony has Spider-Man and Wolverine.
@DennisReynolds their last game was deathloop, granted youngblood wasn't the best but I'd like to think that was mostly to do with Arkane Austin.
Don't think we have anything to fear
They didnt slap on the gamepass and xbox logo after the trailer. Idd 🤔
Hum… Arkane and vampires haven’t we seen that recently? Let’s hope goes better this time…
@anoyonmus And Xbox also has Indiana Jones. Was trying to keep the list short.
This for all intended purposes should be a Xbox exclusive otherwise Microsoft have lost the plot! I didn't see or hear a mention of Xbox or GP but why wouldn't you mention that in the biggest stage for gaming if is exclusive to your platform 🤦
Please be good, the current comic run is crazy so I am hoping for good things.
@Lup Arkane Lyon is known for the Dishonored games and Deathloop. The last thing that crosses through my mind when I play those is generic. Literally, they’re the exact opposite.
not a fan of arkanes cartoon style
@Cherip-the-Ripper Going to be honest i thought Deathloop sucked, really didn't like it at all.
Almost thought it was Redfall DLC at first because of the art style
I'm a fan of blade 1 & 2 but the art style and trailer didn't get me interested in the game at all.
It definitely didn't inspire any confidence in the game that's for sure.
@Kaloudz
Well pointed out about its exclusive and on gampass. And so it should be.
A Blade game!!! I've been waiting for someone to do this for a long time, and by Arkane Lyon no less. This is going to be stylish as f@ck, hyped!😀
Update below windows central.
As Arkane Lyon is an Xbox studio, Marvel's Blade could be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, and will most likely launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. However, Microsoft has clarified neither at the this time. We have reached out to Microsoft to comment.
Cool and awesome news cant wait to play it.
CGI trailer so that’s disappointing. I like blade though so let’s see what they can do.
One of the biggest surprises of the night. Love Arkane, have high hopes
@Kaloudz
Well I think it is probably common sense it will be exclusive and GP day one.
What got me at the show, they did the trailer which was cool, but should have plastered on the video Xbox studios exclusive day one game pass.
It’s like they don’t know how to promote the brand and the exclusivity.
I mean Sony and Nintendo dominate by doing exactly that and giving it large.
@Kaloudz This is Arkane Lyon, not Arkane Austin. But yea I am concerned there was no Xbox logo on it at all; and no Gamepass either. Perhaps it’s just the way the license works with Disney.
@K1LLEGAL
Good point forget about Disney
Maybe they said all devices or no deal.
@Kaloudz
Well let’s hope it has some Wesley ruthless aggression.
@OldGamer999 well supposedly they renegotiated their Indiana Jones deal. It may be as simple as… this deal isn’t finalised now. Perhaps Xbox is trying to get exclusivity and Gamepass.
@Kaloudz Windows Central have retracted that statement and said they don't have 100% confirmation on exclusivity. They say it's probably likely but are surprised that MS haven't announced it as exclusive.
@Kaloudz if it was guaranteed i’m not sure why Xbox’s logo and Gamepass wouldn’t have been plastered all over it. I still think it will be though but with licensed games you never know.
@DennisReynolds that's fair. In that case I hope they manage to beat your expectations man.
@Kaloudz you watched the blade movies? Didn't somehow die during the rave scenes and that disco fight in the first movie?
@K1LLEGAL
I believe no one seems to know about GP and Xbox exclusivity for Blade 2.
Also whilst researching even the supposed Indiana game has not given a definite GP and Xbox exclusivity yet.
These type of games if Xbox do know, they should be shouting it about. Xbox exclusivity and GP day one.
It’s all to relaxed if true and some marketing aggression is required by Xbox.
@OldGamer999 True but we all know Xbox is a bit dumb when it comes to showing off what they do have. Unless, again, it’s all tied up in licenses etc. Guess we will know soon enough but it would have been good for Xbox to get going with the Marketing and associating these games with Xbox.
@K1LLEGAL
Love or hate Sony or Nintendo approach on exclusivity.
As soon as the first trailer is out they tell their respective fans and the general public.
This is exclusive if you wanna play come join our eco system.
Then we have Xbox that limp along telling no one anything, ducking clueless company they are sometimes.
They couldn’t organise a bunk up in a brothel. 😂
@OldGamer999 Yea I also found it interesting that As Dusk Falls, published by Xbox, is hitting Playstation. Granted it’s a small game (and a good one) but I wonder what that means for the future of Kojima’s OD. Xbox never seem to get old Playstation published games; unless i’m wrong on that. But it’s different the other way round.
@K1LLEGAL
I think Xbox are moving slowly in the right direction, I even saw an Xbox advert on UK tv yesterday and nearly dropped me cup of tea 😂
@OldGamer999 wow really? I was going to say their TV advertising is non-existent. Good to know
@OldGamer999 Didn't Phil say Indiana Jones was exclusive a few weeks ago?
So they failed with vampires in redfall. So is this going to be arkane Lyon showing them how to do a vampire game?!
Love blade the first one was amazing.
Graphics look promising. I think that they can't confirm exclusivity so early because of how
complicated licences are, same for Indiana Jones, but they need to confirm as soon as possible and make some noise in the process.
This was such a rollercoaster.
As soon as I saw Arkane Lyon I audibly gasped, as it's one of my all time favourite studios.
Then I saw it's yet another Marvel tie-in and lost interest. I hate superheroes, I hate Marvel, I hate licensed games, and especially licensed games that take time and resources away from an incredible studio like Arkane. It's time to stop with all these crossovers and cross-media crap. Hell, if there's one studio that's capable of creating interesting, detailed new worlds every single time, that's Arkane.
After Redfall I was waiting to see if Lyon would go back to its roots and deliver us another masterpiece, but it seems that Arkane doesn't exist anymore.
Honestly, nothing could've let me down more than this.
Between this and Machine Games developing Indiana Jones (another IP I despise), I'm not really that happy with MS's output in the next few years.
Let's hope Clockwork Revolution delivers at least!
So Arkane goes from a game about killing vampires, to another game about killing vampires? If at first you don't succeed try again I suppose.
@ZuneTattooGuy
This is a different Arkane(Lyon), out to show how it's done 😉
@Kaloudz
Thanks guys. Exclusivity doesn't bother me "too" much
Same here mate, I'm just happy its happening and I'll be able to play it.
There's a big enough voracious crowd constantly needing their plastic box be able to play more games other can't (on their plastic boxes). 😅😅.
Please don't hate me for it...😉
@Sol4ris
All part of the game company, sorry but Red Fall was an embarrassing blow to the company as a whole
I've nothing against whoever is playing the character here but it would have been nice to get Wesley Snipes back to do the voice acting.
Great iIP for MS to land. Whilst I hope they do it justice, I was rather hoping this team were creating something new... Im not sure how well their trademark look goes with Blade, but Ill keep my fingers crossed for this one.
I guess this was the announcement that they wanted us to watch the show for.
@RadioHedgeFund
Blade the comic book character existed before and after Wesley. Just like we will all live once they cast someone else other than Hugh as Wolverine.
@Titntin
I doubt the Blade IP was very expensive
This was such a cool moment for XBOX fans.
I played Lyon's latest, Deathloop, and it was pretty fun. Great art direction. It has a day/night cycle, too, so this seems right up their alley.
@ZuneTattooGuy Redfall was really nothing to do with Arkane Lyon or MS.
Looks nice! Don't think it will be a Spider man killer but it looks great. I'm curious about this title.
unless Xbox gets Wesley snipes to star as Blade in this game. i won't be buying it.
