This past Friday saw the arrival of the "Fortnite OG" mini-season, bringing the original map from Fortnite's battle royale back into the fold for the first time in years, and it's safe to say it's been an absolute smash hit for Epic Games so far.
According to analyst Mat Piscatella of Circana (formerly NPD), 38% of all active Xbox players on November 3rd ended up playing Fortnite, and the average play time was 195 minutes per-player. Incredible!
Then, the official Fortnite team announced over the weekend that November 4th was the biggest day in the game's history, racking up over 44.7 million players and 102 million hours of play across all platforms.
If you're interested in checking it out for yourself, Fortnite OG only appears to be sticking around for about a month's time, so you haven't got long! Hopefully its huge success means we'll be seeing it again at some point in the future...

Never got the appeal of this game wish they could come up with something as popular as this for adults
@ebony-shabba Yeah this game has always been a sensation for the zoomer generation. I tried to get into it before but it's just not for me.
@JayJ Sure the kids keep the money pumping in most adults probably wouldn't spend as much on stupid costumes
@ebony-shabba I like it. Zero build is good for my lack of building skills (and skills in general), and the art+music is great. I'm not a fan of things that take themselves too seriously, so Fortnite is right up my alley. I have my reservations with Epic, but Fortnite is great, especially if you have a good squad to play with.
The gameplay is tight, it's silly fun, and the music in the game is great. People give it a lot of crap but once you get past the building aspect or learn the basics, it's a good battle Royale with the fan base and numbers for a reason. And I'm not a Gen Z or Gen Y person and have been gaming for decades when I say that (plus I've got some W's under my belt), don't get why we should hate on younger gamers for liking games either ..
I played a fair bit of Fortnite in the early days, and would play more if anyone I knew was actually interested. I did try out Zero Build when it launched and had more fun than I'd ever had prior, because I can concentrate on just shooting and not be f**led up by some 9 year old with mad building skills.
I'm a millennial and I loved Fortnite, even though I'm typically a "hardcore" retro gamer. I'm replaying Sonic Origins with all emeralds and time stones. That's my favourite retro playthrough nowadays, although I never had the Mega Drive myself. I said "loved" Fortnite because I don't always have so much time to play and I just stop playing. I did the same with Sea of Thieves, but I will go back to both games when I have more free time. I need to play this Fortnite reboot before it's gone. Do you remember the Xbox website that tells you what are your most played games of the year? Guess mine.
Building fast is difficult but I even learnt that and recorded myself so I'd never forget what I was able to do 🤣. I also had "friends" that I stopped playing with, but it was a really great time. I only had that much fun with Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, my first serious online gaming experience.
My only problem with Fortnite was that you were always playing against "professional" players or kids that spend 12 hours per day (literally) playing the game so you could not ever improve, but even then I was lucky and got a few royal victories with friends. Now, the game offers accessible modes and rankings.
