Last week saw the release of My Time at Sandrock on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, serving as a sequel to the current Xbox Game Pass title My Time At Portia - and it seems to have proved popular so far.
Although reviews have been poor for the Nintendo Switch version (our sister site Nintendo Life gave it a 5/10), the PC and PS5 versions both have an average rating of over 80 on Metacritic right now, while the Xbox Store version has a user rating of 4.7/5. In the process, it's also found its way into the "Top Paid" Xbox chart in the UK and US!
Something that should be mentioned, however, is that there are a few downsides that come with the Xbox version right now. Firstly, we're seeing reports of bugs and performance hiccups (check the Xbox Store reviews for examples), and the other thing is that Xbox doesn't have full parity with PC yet, so there are some missing features as well.
The latter is explained in the following Reddit post over on the official My Time at Sandrock subreddit:
Despite this, there's still a lot of good feedback, as detailed in this example on the Xbox Store:
"I've been a huge fan of My Time at Portia and this game already didn't disappoint. The graphics are on par with the PC and the fps has been really smooth [for me]. If u like farming sims, give it a shot."
In terms of the game itself, it's your job to restore your new community to its former glory, with the game featuring a "detailed story complete with hundreds of sidequests", a full open world to explore, combat elements, and a workshop that allows you to create hundreds of unique items in order to "decorate your homestead, give gifts to Sandrock’s residents, or assist with community requests". You can watch the trailer up above!
If you like the sound of My Time at Sandrock, don't forget to check out the first game on Xbox Game Pass first, and we're also getting another similar game on Game Pass next week in the form of Coral Island 1.0.
Embark on an epic 80+ hour, cozy wild west farming adventure of your very own!"
"Travel to the desert community of Sandrock and take on the role of a fledgling Builder. Use your trusty toolset to gather resources, construct machines, and turn your run-down workshop into a well-oiled production facility to save the town from the jaws of economic ruin!"
