Have you ever wanted to create your own Xbox game, but you have no coding experience? There's a new option for you in the form of Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, which is a free, student-focused tool for making basic retro-style 2D games.
You can access Microsoft MakeCode Arcade via its official website, where you'll find a bunch of examples and handy tutorials to help you get started. You can even use it as a way to mod Minecraft if you want to!
Here's a bit more about how Microsoft describes the service:
"MakeCode Arcade is a retro online game development environment. With a few blocks or lines of code, you can create your own custom games for others to play. Try creating a Maze game, a Treasure Hunt, or a Spaceship game – building your favorite Arcade games has never been so easy."
Microsoft MakeCode Arcade has been around for a while, but it's only as of this month that it's rolled out a brand-new Xbox app that allows you to play MakeCode games on your console. To access your own game, all you need to do is hit the "Add Your Game" button on the Xbox app and type in your custom Kiosk code. Easy!
All of this is free, so if you're even a little bit interested, it's worth giving it a shot. Plus, this is apparently a great tool for getting kids into game development, so if you have any budding devs on your hands, it's worth showing them this!
We also mentioned MakeCode in a recent article about WebView 2 support - we'll throw that down below:

Wow, I've totally missed this thing, but it looks awesome. Will give it a try some day!
That is cool, I've always thought that having some music development software like FL Studio on Xbox would be great.
That does look really cool. Looks nice and easy to use too.
It has to be easier than Dreams, but then I've always like creator stuff
Microsoft have history here. I have some great memories teaching Kodu game lab to High School kids.
How long until someone creates Starfield on here?
So instead of Project Spark (before Dreams released/Mario Maker or Game Builder Garage) or Net Yaroze (PS1) we have this.
I remember Kodu but didn't like it that much it lacked in areas of flexibility even for controller input binds to certain other details so I dropped off it.
I think this is cool.
Gives me Scratch vibes with the visual programming blocks but still pretty cool.
I always find things like these to be great possibilities.
Thing is I dropped off many level editors/other tools. Dreams I thought about it but eh just lost interest.
Oh cool, now this I need to try 😊 One spacey shoot em up coming right up... If possible?!
