Last month, Xbox revealed a company reshuffle with multiple executives moving into new roles. One of these individuals was Matt Booty, who is now 'President of Game Content and Studios' overseeing Bethesda and leaving behind his old role as Xbox Game Studios head.
If you're wondering who is replacing this role, it's now been confirmed. Microsoft has appointed Alan Hartman as the new Head of Xbox Game Studios. If you're not familiar with Hartman, he's been part of Forza Motorsport team at Turn 10 Studios since 2005.
Over the past couple of years he's led as Corporate Vice President of Forza and Fable, and before this was the Forza Studio Head at Turn 10. Here's what he had to say in a brief message on LinkedIn:
"Thrilled to be representing such an elite set of game creators in my new role leading Xbox Game Studios!"
Booty, as previously revealed, will now oversee projects at Bethesda and ZeniMax. Sarah Bond has also moved into a new role and is now the President of Xbox - looking after both the hardware and software teams within the gaming division. And Phil Spencer, of course, will continue to oversee everyone as Microsoft Gaming CEO.
If we hear any other restructuring updates at Xbox, we'll let you know. What do you think of the latest appointment? Tell us in the comments.

Let hope these new management positions bring the quality of games in all areas big AAA up there with but obviously not TOTK or the original gears and Halo.
This is all I wish from Xbox and my series x full potential of the games released in all areas and getting Xbox back on track to those 360 days.
When Xbox turned not just gamers but general public heads with their must have games.
Good seem they are learning i said this last year xbox need to get a hold on those studios and make them work hard even they wont keep up with japanese (they work extra hours and pushed hard to achieve target dates actually more tjan 1000 salary man dies yearly in japan because of overworking so you can imagine how most japanese studios release games evzry 2 years or 3)
At least they will be busy in their work time and release a game each 4 years
Hopefully he wasn't responsible for the latest Forza.
I think they should bring in a talent from outside … a Japanese respected talent would’ve made a lot more sense with the direction Phil wants to go too
If he was in any way responsible for the latest Forza then this promotion baffles me - then again falling upwards is fairly common in the higher levels of the corporate sector.
Still no statements on tackling the frat boy work culture of their new arrivals? That's frustrating.
Like others here, if this chap helped guide the limitations that delivered the recent motorsport, then I fear for future quality. However, the position is needed and MS need to take full control of the studios they now own and not just write them cheques.
I hope this ends up being a positive move for xbox as a whole!
@JayJ Exactly what I was thinking. Absolutely soulless game.
