Toys For Bob, the developer behind the revival of Crash Bandicoot and also the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, has issued a brief message on social media, revealing how "excited" it is about its "new chapter" under the Xbox banner.
The same studio released its new game Crash Team Rumble earlier this year on multiple platforms including Xbox. More recently it also announced Season 3 of the addictive team-based game would be adding Spyro the Dragon when it launches on December 7th.
If you haven't tried out Crash Team Rumble on Xbox yet, it's well worth a look. In our review here on Pure Xbox, we gave the game 8 out of 10 stars calling it a "slick and addictive" online arena battler with plenty of depth.
Apart from Toys For Bob, Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard means it now also owns studios such as Beenox, which has also assisted games like Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time and most recently Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
What would you like to see Toys For Bob work on now that it's joined Team Xbox? Sound off in the comments

It could be a new IP they're working on next, something that might be exclusive for xbox.
I would love to see a new Spyro game in the same vein as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Crash may be a bit more popular, but Spyro still has lots of fans too. And with 2024 being the Chinese Year of the Dragon, I think a new Spyro game (perhaps ironically taking place after Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon) would be perfect.
I tend to play Microsoft games on PC, since I don’t have an Xbox console, but Microsoft usually puts most of the same games it makes for Xbox on PC as well, so if their next game ends up being Microsoft exclusive, I do have a good way to play it. I would love to see IPs like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot to continue being multiplatform, though. PlayStation and Nintendo audiences make up a good portion of the audience for Spyro and Crash as well, especially with the history they have with PlayStation. The more people who get to play these games, the better, I say.
But if it comes down to it, and Spyro and Crash do end up being Microsoft exclusives, I’ll still be happy to play them on PC. Being Microsoft exclusive could have its advantages too, as developing the games for Xbox consoles and PC as opposed to every single platform possible could improve the development process and possibly even result in better games. But it’s ultimately up to Microsoft at this point.
My hope is that Spyro and Crash will continue being multiplatform, including on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles too. But I’d also be okay if they were exclusive to Xbox and PC. I would just feel bad for anyone unable to play Spyro or Crash if they don’t have an Xbox or a gaming PC.
We’ll see what happens, but ultimately I hope for a new Spyro game from Toys for Bob next. I think they could make a really great one, especially with the work they did on the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Just maybe don’t make it as difficult as Crash 4 was. I loved Crash 4, but I do think they made that game quite a bit too challenging, lol.
Another Bobby move making these teams have money grabs over gameplay focus. That is going to change and i wouldn’t be shocked at all to see one of the best Crash games to come out in a long while next. Everyone from ABK is slowly coming out and lightly speaking of the experience. Also causally saying thank you Microsoft for saving our creative freedom. This is all going to take years to see all these dev’s next game, but i would bet my Truck and house they will be much much different from what Bobby forced them into making.
I'm also excited about what Toys For Bob, Beenox and Blizzard Albany (Vicarious Visions) will make now that they won't be forced to support Call of Duty development. They could make what Xbox is lacking.
@Banjo- I really hope that Microsoft allows these developers to stop developing games solely for the purpose of being ATMs. Let them actually have imagination and creativity! I'd like to think there was a collective sigh of relief for these studios knowing that they no longer have to "feed the beast".
I understand that a business sole purpose is to make money, but Microsoft as a whole makes ridiculous amounts of cash that I don't feel like the pressure is nearly as high for game developers to churn out excessive dollar signs - as long as the games are engaging and highly polished, of course!
Spyro 4 first, THEN Banjo-Fourie. It's only fair.
@Banjo- i’m excited for those 3 as well but we really have to hope they are cut free from the COD train. Wish ABK didn’t merge Vicarious Visions too what a shame.
Hopefully this means Microsoft is removing the threat of being thrown into the COD mines. Activision has wasted enough studios down there
SKYLANDERS is really great! It would be nice to use all of these figures in a new game!
A frame pacing fix for Spyro Reignited would be nice!
No more live service crap, we need a sequel to Spyro or crash. I wouldn’t mind a crash bash remake
@Kingdom_Hearts95 When Crash 4 was announced, I was certain we were going to get a "Spyro 4" as well. Crash is great, but surely Spyro has more mass market appeal? I would think that many would find Crash games prohibitively difficult, whereas Spyro has never had that issue. Shows what I know, eh? 🤣
