We've been hearing about a 20th Anniversary Edition of the original Xbox game Beyond Good & Evil for a while, and now it's got a date! This remastered version launches for Xbox One, Series X and Series S on June 25, 2024.
For those who haven't heard of it, Beyond Good & Evil is an action-adventure title that debuted on all major platforms back in 2003, racking up some impressive review scores at the time (it has an 87 average on Metacritic for Xbox). It then received an HD remaster on Xbox 360 in 2011, and that version is backwards compatible on modern consoles.
This time around, Ubisoft says that the Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition features improved graphics, audio and controls, auto-save and cross-save features, a speedrun mode, a behind-the-scenes gallery, updated achievements, and the ability to play at up to 4K, 60FPS.
We're still waiting on pricing details, so hopefully more info will be shared soon. You can watch the trailer above.
"Armed with her dai-jo and faithful camera, Jade’s adventure will get you to freely explore Hillys, combat creatures large and small, infiltrate dangerous areas, solve enigmatic puzzles, play addictive mini-games, race the best hovercraft pilots, and take pictures of the whole experience. Be ready to dive into a trailblazing blend of action gameplay and thrilling emotional cutscenes!"

Own the HD version for the 360. Definitely gonna need a good reason to buy it again.
It’s was an ok game when it came out.
At lot of fuss is made of this game but for what reason I will never know.
Everyone: £24.99-29.99 for a 20 year old game
Ubi$oft:£119.99 to play a 20 year old game, 3 days early
@OldGamer999 Yep same here. I played it when the HD version came out for the 360 to see what all the hype was about. It was ok nothing to write home about and that was that for me. Never even replayed it again to be honest.
Didn't they also delist the 360 version because of this?
Have to give me a good reason to pick it up again. Have the HD remaster on my Series already.
Played through it on the PS2. While it was a good game it was not something that was amazing enough to see again in 4k 60.
Yawn - cash grab
I think I need this
Soooo many good memories playing this with my sister. I even bought it three more times afterwards (PS3, XB1 BC, and Steam). But honestly, the Steam version is so broken that if anything I feel like this should be given for free or with a steep discount for Steam users.
I would buy this if it was physical, but I'm leery of anything Ubisoft these days...
@Utena-mobile Limited Run is actually doing a physical version of this, it was announced shortly after the reveal.
I think I'll be fine with the old HD version. This game is so old that I really don't see the need for more enhancement.
@FraserG Thank you!!! I just checked it out, and the price is pretty reasonable too. ( ^ _ ^ )
