It's a good week to be a fan of (American) football! If the recent release of Madden NFL 24 didn't do enough to tempt your wallet, we've got two alternative football games coming to Xbox consoles this week.
The first of these is available today in Wild Card Football, which takes the form of an arcade-like 7v7 experience complete with a unique Wild Card system featuring powerups that can change the game in an instant.
Alternatively, if you'd prefer more of a simulation offering, Axis Football 2024 launches on Xbox this Wednesday, October 11th. The indie game first released on PC back in September where it has a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam.
We'll throw more details about both of these new Xbox football games down below:
Wild Card Football - Xbox One, Series X|S (October 10)
"Wild Card Football is a fun pick-up-and-play arcade-style football game featuring 7v7 team-focused gameplay with the unique Wild Card system that lets you change the course of the action in an instant with special power-ups and rule-breaking abilities."
Axis Football 2024 - Xbox One, Series X|S (October 11)
"Axis Football 2024 features fluid simulation gameplay, endless customization, and the industry's best franchise mode.

I still think Mutant Football League is the best alternative to Madden available. I can't wait for the second one.
I thought this was about football football.
@Tasuki I would be really happy if the XFL or CFL would give their license to the Blitz crew and let a game be released. Mutant league was good but I could live without all the stadium obstacles and just focus on football. I didn’t really like the mutants either.
Retro Bowl is pretty good, though wish there was an option to play with horizontal view like vintage Tecmo Bowl.
I know not nearly as popular as American football, but hope this new indie sports game phenomenon makes its way to hockey (NHL licensed or not).
@sixrings They are options to turn of the stadium obstacles and death hits and dirty plays to make it like a regular football game.
