Update (Thu 19th Oct, 2023): We've got an update on this one! The Walking Dead: Destinies will officially release on November 17th, available for £39.99 in the UK. A physical version will arrive in December as well.
You can watch the all-new trailer above, and we've thrown some more details about the game below.
-
Shatter Fate: Alter the story of AMC’s The Walking Dead by weaving your own path through the series’ events. Save the villain, kill the hero… and live with the consequences.
-
Slash, Bash & Shoot the Undead: Slay hordes of walkers in third-person action with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, including bats, katanas, revolvers, shotguns, and crossbows.
-
Build Your Dream Team: Assemble your roster from over twelve iconic characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead, including Rick, Shane, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, and more.
-
Survive the Apocalypse: Manage limited resources, scavenge for weapons and ammo, and maximize your party’s abilities to stay alive.
-
Experience the Tension: Defend your camp, rescue survivors, and fight through stealth and all-out combat. Get one last chance at survival in a “broken state” before the walker threat overwhelms you.
Original story (Thu 17th Aug, 2023): Publisher GameMill Entertainment has officially unveiled The Walking Dead: Destinies, a new narrative-focused TWD title heading to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. We don't have a release window or anything for this one just yet, but our first look at the game is available up above.
It's fair to describe our initial impression of Destinies as 'budget' based on its reveal trailer, but we'll try and save our full judgement until the game is out in the wild. That description is backed up by the fact that this The Walking Dead title will cost $50 at launch, even on current-gen systems.
In terms of how the title will actually play, GameMill says Destinies is a third-person action adventure game based on the first four seasons of the TV adaptation of The Walking Dead. It sounds like story-driven choices will play a part as well, as you'll be able to "weave your own path through series events".
For a good while we were pretty big fans of The Walking Dead on AMC, especially during these first four seasons, so we're definitely intrigued to see how the story will play out in this video game version of events. Hopefully we hear of a release date for The Walking Dead: Destinies sooner rather than later.

That's quite the fivehead they gave Rick
@Kaloudz The first time I've found myself disagreeing with you, buddy. The Walking Dead is still a massive IP that's ripe for an awesome video game adaptation. That being said, despite the potential of the franchise, I'm absolutely certain this game is not the aforementioned awesome adaptation that I want or expect.
I honestly cannot wait for this. If this is done right, even with the dated visuals, this could be a lot of fun.
The close likenesses of the tv actors having completely different voices is bizarre.
If it is even remotely as amazing as TWD Saints and Sinners VR I'll play it.

The Walking Dead, the IP that truly does live up to its name. Somebody should have removed the head or destroyed the brain of this franchise years ago.
Oh, and TWD Destinies looks hilariously bad.
@Kaloudz
COOORRRAAAAL.
I came here to say that The Walking Dead should have been put to rest years ago, only to realise that this was an update to an existing article and that I'd already said it.
As you were.
From the developers of such gaming hits as Nick Kart Racing 3 and Nerf Legends comes this terrible looking game from an IP only the most bored still are entertained by
This looks interesting. I like the different outcomes and choices. But I'll be busy with other games, so won't be able to get this.
I absolutely loved the Telltale games based on the TWD universe. But this game just doesn't look interesting at all.
What's up with publicers just picking up licenses and make crappy games out of them? LOTR: Gollum and Skull island: Rise of Kong are counted as by far the worst games of this year and this game looks to join them as yet another failed licensed IP game. I hope the people who sell these licenses will pay better attention where to sell their licenses to....
Loved The Walking Dead, finished the main series, got mostly through Fear, haven't really bothered with the Negan series and despite my favourite character being Daryl, I haven't seen any of his new series. Maybe it's Walking Dead fatigue for me? Also I mostly gave up on Fear after my favourite character died.
@Lavalera the IP owners want to make fast cash and the studios who buy them know there is a dedicated fan base who'll buy anything with their favourite IP on it. Be it Star Wars/Trek/LOTR or Walking Dead
omg please somebody cancel this game... i dont understand why a TvShow like this, get a terrible game like that. Looks like its came from 2003 and one man made it from asset stores... Cmon.... we already get Gollum and Skuill island.... nobody wants more...
and there is a game called WORLD WAR Z....... i know its different style, but ahhhh.... nobody buy this is hope
Don't mind the graphics not looking great I'm looking forward to this hopefully it will be good it will be interesting to see how you can change this one things for sure Rick's wife will die as soon as possible for me ha I hated her
I often wonder if Gamemills business plan includes spending any money on their developers, or if they are forever going to contract everything out to Gilson B enterprises?
Not sure if my impression is correct? But I always wanted State of Decay to make a mode where nothing changed but the crazy, "special" zombies were out and just allowed for slow, stumbling zombies as on Walking Dead.
This finally my wish come true?
