One of October's biggest Xbox Game Pass arrivals has ended up being the Dead Space remake, which came to the library last week on October 26th. EA Motive's re-imagining of the first game in the series was incredibly well-received back in January, but if the game's original producer had any sway, he'd like to tackle a different Dead Space remake now.
Specifically, he has ideas for a potential Dead Space 3 'redo'. Speaking on a ‘CaptainBribo’ podcast episode, the original Dead Space producer Chuck Beaver discussed some ideas for a potential remake of the series' controversial third entry (thanks, PCGamesN).
"Now, in this remake territory I would redo Dead Space 3 almost completely, but I would keep the lore beat it’s predicated on, keep the lore you find out, and I would have Ellie there but in a different relationship [with Isaac] and redo the entire main story,"
There's a good chance that the general tone would be overhauled with any sort of DS3 remake as well. The first game's reimagining certainly stuck with the original's horror elements, and maybe even elevated them, while Beaver says that the developers "weren’t allowed to make a horror game from the beginning" with Dead Space 3. Maybe that would change today!
Either way, Beaver is no longer at Dead Space owner EA, and the publisher has announced no other plans with Dead Space right now. We'll have to wait and see if the team at EA decides to press on with more Dead Space remakes in future.
