The xScreen attachment for the Xbox Series S has been getting a lot of great feedback over the past few years, and it's become such a big deal that Microsoft has now decided to license it as part of the "Designed for Xbox" program.
This was confirmed in a tweet by the UPspec Gaming team earlier this week:
Being part of the Designed for Xbox initiative is definitely worth shouting about - Microsoft says consumers who buy products containing this label "can have confidence knowing these accessories have been developed alongside Xbox to deliver the best experience possible". It's a big milestone without a doubt!
If you're interested, you can check out our Pure Xbox review of the xScreen elsewhere on this website, and the device has actually also been discounted on Amazon - instead of the usual $249.99 price, it's currently $209.99. Apparently there are plans for a black version of the xScreen to go with the new Carbon Black Xbox Series S as well.

If I had a Series S I would be all over this.
Edit: that is a shame it’s so expensive in the UK…
The only thing this has going for it is the specific form factor. But it's hideously overpriced for the quality of the screen, and the form factor only really works with the Series S.
You'd be far better off imho getting a standard portable HDMI & USB-C portable screen that can be had for less than half the cost for a similar quality panel. It would also work more elegantly with Switch, Steam Deck or even as a second monitor for a laptop. I bought one off Amazon for around £80, but you can spend more, whereas this is currently £260 in the UK.
Great for the team no doubt, but this thing is so hugely over priced? I cant see a huge market for it at this price, but I've been very wrong before, so good luck to them.
Does this mean MS gets a cut of sales or something?
Like others have said, I guess you're paying for the convenience of the form factor and it being cable free. If that's not the major draw for you though, it's well worth looking at other much cheaper options.
For under the current price point to buy one in the UK, there's even some 1080p/120hz and 1440p/60hz options.
I really like this screen. My series S has become a nice little traveling rig or gaming in bed system.
I suggest using a stand because the S gets pretty warm. I bought a breakfast in bed tray on amazon for like $10.
Do they make them in black, or plan to, for the new black Series S?
It's super cool, but I can spend the amount on it that I spent on the system itself.
@iplaygamesnstuff The article says towards the end they plan to release a black one to match the new Series S.
@theduckofdeath awesome, I missed it, thanks for letting me know.
I have one. The screen is super convenient. I can play it on the couch like a laptop. Pretty hard to do that with a separate monitor. At $200, I'd say the price is fair for what you get. Yes, you can get a better quality screen but then you're dealing with the hassle of lots of wires, a stand to support the screen, or you may be forced to play at a desk or table, and possibly needing multiple outlets. With the Xscreen, all you need is one outlet to plug in the power cord and you're good to go.
So is this going to change anything about the product somehow?
Kind of reminds me of something ‘portable’ (but still had to be tethered to an electric outlet) I had during the 1980s.
I had the screen for the slim PS2 back in the day. If I was still in the military I might have bought this. I just picked up a little 7 inch for less than half the price. That I can let my friend use for our LAN party. If you have the extra space or don't mind carrying around the extra bulk. You can get a 10 -15 inch for around $100
If you say this is expensive it shows that you are broke. I paid $150 back in 2004 for something similar. If you don't see it's purpose. It's clear you don't have any real friends.
@Raw_Dawg You sound sweaty 'dawg'
@Kiddd Is that some new things the kids are saying. lol
