Want to enhance your Xbox Game Pass experience? Come join the official Pure Xbox Game Club!
We can't take any credit on staff for this — the PX Game Club is the work of ralphdibny and the rest of the contributors over at the Pure Xbox forums, who have established a community that meets up every month to play a game on Xbox Game Pass and share their experiences. Games are voted on every month by the contributors involved.
The game for August 2023 is Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Moon Studios' gorgeous sidescrolling sequel that arrived as an Xbox exclusive back in February 2020!
You'll find the forum thread to get involved below (it has over 2,800 entries to date!):
If you're interested in what kind of discussion goes on, here's what a couple of contributors had to say about last month's Pure Xbox Game Club title, Perfect Dark:
- Balta666 on Pure Xbox:
"I absolutely adore this game. It is my favourite single player campaign by a country mile and I feel the objectives nature of it is much better than a straight line of story focused narrative of today's (I do like CoD 4's campaign though)."
- LtSarge on Pure Xbox:
"So I just finished Perfect Dark. I honestly had a good time with it once I switched to Agent difficulty. The levels became more straightforward, although some were still annoying to navigate.
Other than that, it was a really fun game."

One of my favourite games of all time amazing
Haven’t played the Ori games yet and never tried this Game Club things so maybe I’ll join in on this one. Is it okay to play Will of the Wisps before The Blind Forest?
@Altaria_97 I’d recommend Blind Forest first. I mean, it’s not totally essential to play it first, but Will of the Wisps will definitely be more appreciated if it’s played second. I’d say, with either game, you’re looking at what is the best Metroidvania series outside… well, the two games in the name and maybe Hollow Knight, depending on your preference. It’s definitely not a bad thing to jump into the Ori series from any angle, I’d just recommend the first game first.
Extraordinary games, both Ori titles.
@Altaria_97 I would not recommend it, only because Will of the Wisps has some mechanic improvements that make it impossible to go back to Blind Forest if you ever decide to do so.
Count me in folks
I only played this a couple years back but im doing another run through with the club. Such a wonderful and smooth game.
@Kaloudz @Cikajovazmaj @somnambulance Thanks for the responses. I’ll definitely play the first one before the second. They’re both on GamePass anyway and the first one doesn’t seem particularly long on HowLongToBeat. I’ll start it right after I beat Halo Infinite’s campaign 😎
@Altaria_97 great choice there both games are amazing I mean you can't go wrong with halo infinite either
This is a really neat idea, just too much to play right now for an Ori replay. Anyone who never played it is in for a really special game.
@Altaria_97 like the others said you are probably better suited by playing both. You are welcome to share your thoughts from blind forest at the game club if you'll fancy it.
