The original intent was to release much earlier than this, but the team is still working hard on getting the game ready, posting regular development updates over on the official UFL YouTube channel including raw gameplay footage.
In addition, it's now been confirmed that the plan is to allow "closed" playtesting at some point soon, accessible to those who get involved with the game's Discord server. Here's a note from the CEO of UFL developer Strikerz Inc.:
Alongside these plans, UFL also recently announced a big partnership with Hashtag United FC, and the game attracted a lot of attention a few months ago following a full match of Alpha gameplay (dated January 2023) that was shared on the UFL YouTube channel. You can watch that video for yourself below.
For a long time now, it's been just EA Sports with the FIFA series and Konami with the PES & eFootball series dominating the market in non-management based football / soccer games, so here's hoping UFL can prove a worthy competitor when it eventually arrives on Xbox and various other platforms.
