One of the big Xbox releases of August 2023 is FromSoftware's Armored Core VI, which arrives in just under a month's time on August 25th. There's been plenty of excitement for this one, but it's been ramped up even more this week.
That's courtesy of the brand-new Gameplay Preview you see up above, which includes 12 minutes of footage showing exploration, combat, customisation and more. And as highlighted below, it's been getting an incredible reaction so far!
In fact, the reaction has been so good that the trailer has racked up over 1 million views in less than 24 hours, and the game was also trending on Twitter yesterday as well as jumping into the top 20 on the Steam Top Sellers List.
It's looking like a great start for Armored Core VI, then, and we're excited to check the full game out for ourselves in just a few weeks' time. If you're interested, it's available to pre-order right now on the Xbox Store for £54.99 / $59.99.
Here's a bit of what our sister site Push Square had to say about the game in their hands-on preview:
"In the moment gameplay is thoroughly enjoyable, with weapons blasting off on all sides and a sense of aerial freedom not seen in a FromSoftware title for a decade. As a whole, the sixth instalment is shaping up nicely — we're only anticipating it more and more as the late August release date creeps closer."

I'm really looking forward to this. Never played Armored core before but this looks to be impressive. Don't preorder many games these days but this I have. Combat looks fast and fluid with a deep learning curve.
I don't get why there has been next to no hype for this game up until now. It's From Software who have been on a tear for years now. Armored Core is a once legend franchise. It used to get middling reviews because the BroSet who wrote for game magazines wouldnt pay attention to anything other than FPSs and Madden. AC was always a great series. This one looks fantastic. I'm paying full price.
The game does look amazing. I’ve never dived into the series much though. I would hope there’s a demo, honestly, even though I doubt there will be one, given FromSoft doesn’t really do that.
@somnambulance I found Ac from a magazine disc on the Playstation 1. You never know.
@Cashews Sadly the mech genre in general has never grabbed the masses. Maybe that's a good thing. Look at how every genre that does grab the masses ends up turning into a morass of lowest common denominator.
What really surprises me more is that somehow souls did grab the masses, because nothing about that series screams mass appeal at all, but somehow it did to the point that people don't understand why From would make something "new" and different lol.
@NEStalgia they are such talented folks - I am really glad they don't want to get stuck in a rut of making one game (like Gamefreak or Treyarch). It is going to make them better developers all around imo.
I hope this game is great and if so - achieves high level success.
Just ain't fair. This, sea of stars, and starfield all in a few weeks of eachother lol.
@NintendoByNature Don’t forget Mortal Kombat 1 a week after that! And there’s no time to recoup in October either. This is the first year in ages where I’m not able to keep up with all the new releases I want.
@Cashews A demo would definitely persuade me to buy the game if I liked it. Or a 90+ score across the collective of review sites on OpenCritic. I get that fear of missing out with those types of scores. It hooked me on Elden Ring, despite not like Souls games before it, and then it ended up being my GotY last year. I’d prefer a demo though.
@somnambulance wow, it's full of releases from pretty much now til the end of the year. Thankfully, a few of the games I want to play this year are GP releases. But still, I need to sort out my purchases as well.
@KaijuKaiser oh boy, not sure I'll be able to wait that long. We'll see though 😏.
@Kaloudz from what I saw in the kindafunny preview, it's not imperative to play older titles. The guy who previewed the game never played an armor core up to that point and was raving about it.
@Cashews I think there’s a few reasons it’s not getting as much hype.
That all said I AM excited to see what a post-Souls success Armoured Core plays like and see what From Soft can manage today in a different genre
