Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas brought a Zelda-like adventure to Xbox platforms way back in 2016, but did you know that a full-blown 3D sequel soon followed? Oceanhorn 2 launched years ago as an Apple Arcade exclusive, but has since made its way to Nintendo Switch and is now coming to Xbox Series X|S - and it looks pretty impressive in these new current-gen screenshots.
The team has just dropped four brand-new screens of the game — taken from the current PC build — and is aiming for full 4K / 60FPS playback on Xbox Series X when the title launches. Here, take a look:
Of course, the game is stylised to some degree but we still think it looks rather splendid, and we can imagine it looking super in motion if the team can nail those performance targets. We don't know any details on the Xbox Series S version yet, but, let's hope for 60FPS at least!
At present, the team has a broad 2023 release target for Oceanhorn 2 on Xbox, and we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for a concrete launch date in the coming months. The game won't be coming to Xbox Game Pass, at least at launch, but the team has confirmed that the Xbox and PC versions will support Xbox Play Anywhere on release.
Is Oceanhorn 2 on your Xbox radar? Let us know if you'll be picking this one up in 2023!

Got this on Switch and the poor frame rate makes the game barely playable. Good to see that it won’t be Switch exclusive any longer.
I've played them both. Graphically it was amazing at the time (for mobile/tablet) but it felt like a C-grade Zelda knockoff and the gameplay loop got tiresome quickly. Hopefully it's not just a straight port of that, and they've made improvements in the 3+ years since it was on Apple Arcade.
I actually preferred Oceanhorn 1 which was an OK, if simple, game.
First Oceanhorn was pretty decent. I hope this second one is nowhere near as large as BoTW or ToTK, would be an immediate turnoff.
I finally bought this on Switch after it sitting on my Steam wishlist for ages. So of course shortly after I buy it they break like, two years of radio silence.
@XxEvilAshxX They did this to grab the coattails and ride the latest Zelda. Of course it doesn't come close to the actual Zelda.
Other video game example: all of the fighters that are "suddenly" releasing right when the far superior in every imaginable way Street Fighter releases. 2nd String developers find something: you are poor, you want more, you aren't good enough to play competitively on the real thing, you like the niche but want a different artstyle, difficulty, etc to grab some of the trailing hype.
Nice! I actually like this dungeon- and story-focused approach more than the sandbox style gameplay of Tears of the Kingdom. As good as it is, I prefer focused experiences.
It looks like Zelda but with good graphics.
I love playing this game on my 3rd generation Apple TV 4K. It runs at 4k 60fps on that device, so I would imagine it’s 4k 60fps on the series s
I played through this a year or two ago. As a huge zelda fan, I can honestly say it falls way short. Not nearly as good as the first game. It looks amazing though, so there's that. Just a boring experience in all honesty.
Oceanhorne 2 is one of the best looking third party games on Switch, so I’m happy it’s finally coming to Xbox and PC.
I did enjoy the first one, with some very big names working on the soundtrack. Might give this one a try too.
This isn't a sequel, it is a prequel!
I loved 1 on ps4. I hope this is even better
Honestly - this game misses the mark in so many ways, and is utterly generic. To even be held in the same breath as Zelda, is an extremely unwarranted compliment IMO!
Tunic and Death's Door are probably much better 'Zelda-esque' titles on XBox. (maybe both even on Gamepass?)
I got Oceanhorn 2 on Switch, and it looks/runs beautifully... but gameplay is soulless and monotonous. Whereas Tunic and Death's Door are both awesome
