What’s the 350 compared to current series S pricing?
@PsBoxSwitchOwner ERP for the original version is $299.
@FraserG thanks
I feel like this is a middle finger to people who own the Series S… especially to someone who may have just bought a series s recently.
I love it. Not everyone can afford the Series X. And I didn't wanna buy a Series S AND extra storage.
If I didn't already have a Series X I'd probably buy this
Lool
Like..this is big news
For all the Xbox series s owners if pre-orders start today and you recently bought a series s I think what Microsoft should do is if you pre-order the newest Xbox series s for $349 you should be able to trade your other Series S to get some type of credit for the other series s console
So around £299, not bad! Black looks nice too although I think I will get a Series X for Starfield
It seems like this is a really strange move from an econonmic perspective.
Launching a console 2 years later with nothing but increased storage for an increased price.
I wonder if this signals price increases for the Series X are coming.
@evan23 I think this will be the retail and it will regularly be on sale at $300. People are suckers for a sale.
Good looking console, would've def gone for black instead on the white S we have now. Was really hoping for a digital X at $400ish but I guess theres a market for these as well
@KaijuKaiser It’s perfect for those on a budget
@sixrings But the current Series S goes on sale for $250 so it is still $50 more.
I was hoping for series X level hardware without a disc drive.
Please Phil? 🥺
Looks fantastic and will be able to pickup for around $300 at retail very soon which for me makes it a great buy for the bedroom.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner regular price is $299, but you can find it for $289 or less depending on sales. I've seen it as low as $249 on sale.
@evan23 true but it’s black with more ssd.
@Kloppo
Its $50 more expensive than the Series S with only 512 GB of storage. Wont be an even case but if you paid full price for the Series S (its constantly on sale) its $90 to get the $512 GB expansion card, you would be short $40. If you did get it on a sale, you likely end up with a cheaper total price. I doubt we will see this model on sale soon.
@Auglicious
Hell, I got my Series S for $200. I could go for the 1 TB expansion card now and be at the same price point and end up with 1.5 TB storage.
Still, I would advise anyone that got theirs within the last two weeks to just return it.
@evan23
Would not be shocked if they announce a Series X 2 TB internal storage for $550, maybe without a disk drive too. But I doubt they will be increasing the base 1TB Series X price given they are not exactly competing internationally at its current price.
@Tharsman For me, the Series S at $350 seems like a hard sell against a $500 Series X. It will be interesting to see what happens.
At what point do you not just get a Series X instead? If this is £300 in the UK, you can easily get a used Series X for £370
UK is £299! Article has been updated.
@carlos82 yeah the Series X imo is the better bet long term. Appreciate this is a price conscious system, but the Series X gets access to far far cheaper games due to supporting physical discs, so over the lifespan of the system the Series X could well be cheaper if you’re willing to get physical games (which you can optionally resell) to save money in the process.
To me, Series S makes sense if you’re going to stick to Game Pass and pretty much nothing else. Otherwise, having the optical drive gives you more flexibility.
That’s ignoring the far more consistent performance of games in general you’ll get.
My biggest problem with the series s is how it handles backward compatibility games. The one x does better. It’s Just hard playing games like killer instinct in sub 900p when others are playing at 4k
How about a White XSeX?
I just bought the Xbox Series S just a few months ago, and Xbox decided to release a carbon black, 1TB model.
I already have a Series S as a secondary xbox so the Series X can stay in my office. Might have to sell the S and upgrade.
Series S paired with the xscreen makes a great bedroom rig or if the family room tv is tied up.
Should been 1 TB at launch and series X 2 TB at launch.
No excuses.
If it had launched with 1TB some would find something else to complain about. They’re giving options, nobody is obligated to buy anything.
The more I look at this the more I think "this thing looks better in white"...
This is telling anyone who would like a Xbox to buy it … smart move… show Starfield and a cool Xbox S
The FOMO for Starfield is going to sell a lot of product… a lot of non-Xbox lookie loos today….
@GuyinPA75 price is an excuse
@Friendly Nope.
Microsoft should also have increased RAM.
@GuyinPA75 well, I’d say you can buy the additional storage if price is not an issue for you.
@Friendly Not disagree at all. But when memory card costs as much or more than Series S that's into the realm of ridiculous.
@GuyinPA75 true, but it also immediately shows you the reason why a bigger storage wasn’t yet being used.
@Somebody Why upgrade? For $90 or less you can add the missing 512GB except in white....cheaper and less hassle than spending $350 then selling your console... It's an ok discount savings for new buyers, but not really when you have one already when you can just buy the storage.
@evan23 It's not that strange. PS360's came in multiple storage sizes for multiple prices. Last gen was kind of weird without that, but it did the "pro" console thing. It'll get messy if we get multiple storage sizes AND pro consoles this year with like 6 SKUs per platform on shelves.
@Kloppo It's like a $30-45 difference depending on sale pricing of the old S + 512 storage module. Sure if you just bought an S, finding out you could have saved that difference vs the storage module stings, but it's not a monster savings or anything. It's not like you missed out on a new console that performs differently or can't get the storage difference in the console you have at all, you just missed an ok discount on the combo (and the color black.)
@NEStalgia the black looks much better than the speaker vibe (might make the xscreen look whack tho). It would also be more collectible than the base model. I probably won't get one but I want one.
I have a tendency to hoard videogame stuff so I probably wouldn't ever sell the one I got anyway. Maybe lend it to my nephew or something.
@Somebody Haha, yeah I have my whole collection as well, including spares!
IDK for me, I like the 2-tone S, but if I didn't have an X I might like the all black one better. The 2-tone looks nice wedged between the 2-tone PS5 and the all black X. I use it as a remote play streaming server because cloud doesn't have quick resume, and not everything I want to stream is on cloud. It's "fun" while the X is "srs bsns".
@Exerion76
I agree 100%, I want a Series X slim, I personally don't like the look of the Series X tower, give me a Series X Slim in a similar case to the One S and I will be preordering!
