As part of the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 and Starfield Direct last week, you may have spotted the appearance of the legendary "Adoring Fan" from Oblivion - who was already confirmed to be making a comeback in Starfield.
The first look at the character in the new game drew a lot of attention following the Showcase, and it even prompted the original voice actor of the Adoring Fan, Craig Sechler, to put together a comical video announcing his return.
For those who aren't aware, the Adoring Fan became a meme in the years following his appearance in Oblivion where he promised to "worship the ground you walk on" and ultimately shower you with praise to an annoying degree.
The character's re-appearance in Starfield pretty much guarantees we're going to be treated to some hilarious lines along with lots of irritating behaviour. The official description for the "Hero Worshipped" trait in Starfield (which is entirely optional) describes the Adoring Fan as showing up randomly and jabbering at you incessantly, but the plus side is that he'll join your ship's crew and give you gifts. Is it worth it? We'll leave that up to you!

Probably my favorite part of the Starfield showcase. Now if they incorporate a once human, now sentient AI floating TV, the world will be defined forever. I don't care if it was in New Vegas!
This was one of the highlights for me in the showcase. I wonder how many people won't chose the hero worshipped trait just for this!
It reminds me of why Oblivion is still my high water mark for BGS games, and Skyrim never hit the same notes. I remember so many characters and quests from Oblivion. Not so much with Skyrim (which I STILL haven't finished lol)

This is great, but would have been better if they didn't spoil it in the direct.
They did a great job with the face, too. It's just the right mix of adorable lost puppy and creepy sociopath.

@NEStalgia this honestly made the show for me. Everything else was great but it just brought back so many good memories from the xbox 360 days. I bought my 360 just to play oblivion remember it was not on the ps3 to start I am pretty sure that is correct. I think for me this game is going to be epic.
@VisitingComet1 That's right, Oblivion was 360 only for a while, and that PS3 port that arrived eventually was really bad. Morrowind was XB only.
Back in those days I was PC-only actually, and I think even Oblivion was late on 360. This was before "OMG mods!" was a thing for Bethesda games really, but I remember I was never happy with how the trees looked, and ended up building a new rig just to get the trees in oblivion to look good lol. And it still ran badly with a top of the line new PC build...such is bethesda games!
