Update: Microsoft has revealed the first and second batches of games leaving Xbox Game Pass in July 2023! We've updated the table below with some of the predictions we got right, which also included a few titles that left on June 30th.
Original story: What's leaving Xbox Game Pass in July 2023? Well, Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but based on some games that were added to the service this time last year, we can at least make a few predictions ahead of time.
We know that a lot of Xbox users want more advance notice of games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft understandably gives us around two weeks right now - and don't forget, publishers sometimes secure late deals with Microsoft to keep their games on Game Pass, even after they've been announced to be leaving!
So, before we take a look at the following list of potential games leaving Xbox Game Pass in July 2023, we want to stress that nothing has been confirmed yet, and this will not be a 100% accurate list by any means. Some of these games might leave, some of these games might stay, and many others might be added to the list.
The most common (but definitely not the only) trend with Xbox Game Pass seems to be that games stick around for one year, so we've gone back to July 2022 to look at the games that were added to Game Pass at the time. That said, we've also added a few games from the July 2021 list as well. Based on those original announcements, here's what we think could potentially leave Xbox Game Pass in July 2023:
Date It Joined Xbox Game Pass | Game | Platform |
July 1, 2021 | Gang Beasts | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 29, 2021 | Console, PC, Cloud
July 1, 2022 | Far Cry 5 (Seems Unlikely) | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 5, 2022 | Last Call BBS | PC |
July 5, 2022 | Solasta: Crown of the Magister | Console, PC |
July 5, 2022 | Yakuza 0 (Fairly Unlikely?) | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 5, 2022 | Yakuza Kiwami (Fairly Unlikely?) | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 5, 2022 | Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Fairly Unlikely?) | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 7, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
July 7, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
July 7, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
July 12, 2022 | Garden Story | Console, PC |
July 14, 2022 | Escape Academy | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 14, 2022 | My Friend Peppa Pig | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 14, 2022 | Overwhelm | PC |
July 14, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
July 14, 2022 | PowerWash Simulator | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 19, 2022 | Watch Dogs 2 (Seems Unlikely) | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 21, 2022 | MotoGP 22 | Console, PC, Cloud |
July 21, 2022 | Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion | PC |
July 21, 2022 | Torment: Tides of Numenera | Console, Cloud |
July 29, 2022 | Inside | Console, PC, Cloud |
As mentioned previously, there could be plenty of additions to this list, and many of these games might stick around on Xbox Game Pass for even longer, but it seems likely that we'll lose at least some of these in July 2023. Our predictions usually turn out to be anywhere from 30%-80% correct.
Of course, we've only just entered June, so we've got a lot more games set to leave this month, with 12 departing the service on the 15th, and another batch set to leave on the 30th. You can find more details below:
Which of these games do you think will leave Xbox Game Pass in July 2023? Tell us down below.

@Kaloudz It won't be completely accurate, don't worry
It can be anywhere from around 30% - 80%...
Already bought Road 96 but if it happens to leave I'll need to buy Powerwash Simulator as I play it too much.
Escape Academy is an awesome little game too, and doesn't take too long - and is one of the few mystery games ever to come close to the fun of an escape room with friends (as it's co-op as well as single player, and the clues are actually decent)
Gang Beasts is worth trying!
@Kaloudz I really want some Square Enix news because of how weird the current situation is.
@Kaloudz Right, a Dragon Quest spin-off is coming to Xbox so, obviously, it's not the porting costs what is preventing games from coming to Xbox. Only Sony trolls believe that. So, next question is if Square Enix will start supporting Xbox again. If the investigation of the ABK acquisition reveals those contracts between Sony and Square Enix that Sony want to hide I'd be chuffed. I want to know the terms between Sony and Square Enix. What games are included and for what period of time and how much did Sony pay for specifically excluding Xbox
@FraserG Thanks as ever for the reminder to check our lists.
Escape Academy was great, and short, might need to check out the DLC
I didn't even realise Watch Dogs 2 was ON Game Pass
If they take Yakuza 0 off then that'll be its second departure, and the second time I'll have said I was going to play it, but missed out.
Will have to start playing more of motogp and peppa pig for the daily achievements.
@themightyant It has DLC?! How did I not know this!
Looking at the season pass now - thinking I might wait and see if it's leaving this month, as I might have to buy the base game too...
@Widey85 I know! I only found out when #2 was announced.
Glad to help a fellow Escape Academy fan. Enjoy.
@themightyant Cheers lol
Not Peppa Pig!!! That is a giant epic! I can’t realistically start this Peppa Pig’s gargantuan saga today and finish it in 9 days!!!
I bought the Yakuza series so I don't mind those but it IS a huge loss if it ends up being true.
The one that would hurt me the most would probably be Solasta, but since there's a new version with all the DLC...
@Kaloudz Because in that case a trial will take place and documents will have to be shown and probably leak. Perhaps Sony is also being investigated about their anticompetitive practices by some regulators. Even in Japan they seem a bit worried about that.
Gang Beasts? Why?
Isn't that a Double Fine game?
Powerwash Simulator seems like a guaranteed game that's leaving Game Pass given it's the only Square Enix game left on Game Pass.
@Kaloudz Exactly! By accusing Microsoft of acquiring ABK, something that Microsoft didn't hide, many people around the world started checking their anticompetitive behaviour. Sony played the victim and now everyone is seeing how malicious they really are. It reminds me of certain PS/PX user... 🤣
@Wiiiiiiii Since 2020, the developer Boneloaf acquired the publishing rights. If I see it cheap on a sale I'll buy it.
I really enjoyed The Ascent, would recommend giving a try if you like that type of game.
@Kaloudz I agree, Nintendo, Sony and Nintendo can all expand their studios and make first-party games, assuming all the costs and risks related to owning studios. Paying for specifically keeping third-party games off Xbox like Sony is doing is just anticompetitive, especially if it's more than one year because it permanently hurts the user base of the competition. It should be illegal. It's illegal in other businesses. Imagine if they did that with every third-party game.
Perhaps because Square Enix shares and game sales fell 12.9%, they might start supporting all platforms again. The Dragon Quest spin-off may be just the beginning. On top of that, Square Enix has a new CEO, right?
@Kaloudz Same here. For instance, I'll only buy Final Fantasy XVI and VII Remake if they release them for Xbox. I will play other games in the meantime. Same for Octopath Traveller II after having enjoyed I on Series X.
@Kaloudz The fact that Sony doesn't want to show their contracts, that they say that some are in Japanese as if it was a dead language and that they feel "harassed" by Microsoft and justice after bashing Microsoft is all very, very suspicious... I'd love a Phoenix Wright case about it.
@Kaloudz They made a worldwide case of it and expected nobody to ask them anything? 🤣 I can't wait to see what they're hiding.
