Developer Volition has just dropped its launch trailer for the upcoming 'The Heist & The Hazardous' expansion and it looks suitably OTT, as is the Saints Row way. This new DLC pack — the first from the game's 2023 roadmap — is out now, and the game is also heavily discounted on Xbox if you feel like this is the right time to jump in.
The base price is just £23.99 / $23.99 as part of this week's Xbox 'Next-Gen' sale:
As for the expansion itself, The Heist & The Hazardous takes place in a new area called 'Sunshine Springs', and contains a bunch of new missions, activities, weapons and more. Here's a bit more about what this DLC pack is all about:
"You return to play as the Boss, and you’re out for revenge! Insufferable movie star Chris Hardy employs you to take on a million-dollar assassination hit, but when he double crosses you and leaves you for dead, the Saints hatch a plan to take revenge on Hardy and his career – and whether you succeed is up to you."
"The Heist and the Hazardous includes three new story missions for one to two players, a new weapon, a new helicopter, rewards, cosmetics and more!"
If you don't fancy forking out for the premium DLC pack, some of this update's content is actually free. All Saints Row players can explore the new Sunshine Springs location, with "a host of new activities and shops" available to base Saints Row players from today, May 9.
We found the game to ultimately be a pretty big disappointment when it launched last summer, but we're holding out hope that this update can smooth things out and improve the overall experience for Xbox players - whether they pick up the paid expansion or not!
Are you tempted by this sale & update combo from Volition? Let us know if you're teaming up with the Saints this week down below!

Not that it would matter anyway but three story missions and the amount of stuff they're putting in as paid DLC is basically less than a free GTA Online upgrade.
I have all DLC and I'll play it once it's all available but I am over feeling sorry for Volition.
They deserved being closed off.
Was hoping the Season Pass would be on sale as well as the base game.
Will purchase later this month. Zelda owns my free time though.
It would be great if the DLC portion had actually launched on Xbox. It actually has not (as of this post) yet been released for Xbox users. Massively botched release. Hopefully the next two rollout smoother.
That said the "three missions and some cosmetics" is the essentially the same format that DLC for Saint's Row has followed since SR2.
People complaining that "they didn't give me 45 new missions, 30 new cars, 15 new weapons, a whole new map, six new characters, and 20 million dollars" as DLC are a weird bunch.
