The fantastic A Plague Tale: Requiem has received a major boost on Xbox Game Pass today, as the game's latest update introduces a 60FPS performance mode on Xbox Series X (as well as PlayStation 5).
We're hoping we'll get some patch notes soon, but for now all we have is the announcement:
Despite the lack of 60FPS support at launch, A Plague Tale: Requiem was still extremely well received last year, racking up a Metacritic average of 85 for Xbox Series X - and an "Excellent" 9/10 review here at Pure Xbox.
Will you be jumping into A Plague Tale: Requiem at 60FPS? Tell us down in the comments section below.

This game is comfortably a match for, if not better than, Jedi Survivor graphically, plus it ran at 40fps rather than 30fps. It's a tremendous engine they've developed, and I hope they continue using it for future titles rather than joining the mass migration to UE. I'll be interested to see what cutbacks they've had to make to get it to 60fps.
Excellent news, can’t wait to give this a try.
Graphically, probably the best game I've played so far, 60fs would only make things better.
Absolutely stunning in places.
The game it's self i found to be too much 'trail and error' and gave up 2/3 the way through.
For me, this was the best game of 2022. It did an incredible job of closing the story chapter of the De Rune family. The ending left me in tears too...
Asobo & Focus, bring on the third game!
Great news, held off playing until this was released
It’s unfortunate that there’s no 60fps option for Series S, but I understand why.
I'm still working my way through the first game after picking it up recently and I thought that looked good, I was blown away by the story. Can't wait to try this one next.
the studio that i would love Microsoft to buy if ABK doesn't, honestly i prefer them buying them instead of ABK, Xbox need heavy Narrative games on 3rd person, hellblade is there and perfect dark still far away and they need this to straighten there 1st party even more
@TakeItEasy I can't believe Microsoft haven't made them an offer, especially as they made Microsoft Flight Sim! But not everyone is for sale.
i should imagine this will mostly be down to optimisations of the engine because the digital foundy videos at the time pointed out it was cpu and ram speed that were limiting factors not being as simple as resolution drop.
i got this on series x over ps5 because it ran at a proper 40 fps unlike ps5 which dropped the 30 in heavy scenes. i would be curious how the two machines perform in this new 60 mode.
I need to go back and get the rest of the achievements/trophies for Series X & PS5 anyway. One of the best games of 2022 in my opinion. While 40fps is fine, I was hoping to see a 60fps option. Better late than never.
Easily one of the best games from 2022, and it was amazing to play the entire thing on Game Pass. I would happily buy this in the future, especially now that there's an FPS update.
So the talk about "cinematic feel" and design choice of missing 60fps from the start was just a lie. Surprising! not..
Finally. Been holding off playing this until they added 60fps. Guess it is time now.
@themightyant maybe they cant when doing the ABK deal, Asobo and Crystal dynamic is such a huge loss for MS, im sure Microsoft can buy Asobo everyone is for sell at a price
Lol! I just finished this game last week. Guess Ill have to play again with the 60FPS. I have Gamepass, but bought the physical discs for both games. They are absolutely amazing games! I think I took like 200 screenshots of Requiem lol.
@InterceptorAlpha Even at 30FPS, this was an incredible game
@TheCrafter1578 That's fine and all, played the first at 60fps, wasn't going to have the 2nd be a downgrade by running lower.
Will the first come back to Game Pass?
I haven't played this one yet because I want to play the first one before hand.
Procrastination for the win!!!
I still don't know when I'll actually get around to it but it's going to be fully optimized by the time I do.
Cool, was playing okay on the X, got like 10 hours in, will happily try and finish it with the new graphic options in place. Great news.
Good to have extra graphic options. Tried this last night, resolution appears to have been lowered in some areas but it still looks fabulous and for my preference I like the extra fps, even compared to 40 with vrr. I’ve disabled motion blur & chromatic aberration.
A couple of oddities - some characters animate at 30fps (much like the flags do in Assassins Creed Origins) and I had one major lock-up when the game froze for 4-5 seconds before correcting itself (but didn’t crash). I read there are fewer rats, but you’d still struggle to count them.
Good stuff.
