The "innovative exploration-survival experience" known as The Long Dark will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in April 2023, but before then, it's just received a new update that improves the frame rate on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
Interestingly, this doesn't seem to have been publicised at all. There's actually been a lot of confusion about whether the FPS has increased or not, but thanks to Fuzion Xbox Testing, we know that it has.
You can check the new Xbox Series X footage down below, which appears to run at a native 4K resolution but suffers frames in the 50-55 range at times. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version potentially runs at under 1080p in terms of resolution, but seems to stick at a consistent 60FPS for the most part.
It might be worth going back to The Long Dark before it leaves Xbox Game Pass in a couple of weeks, then, and if you're really enjoying it, you can check out the DLC known as "Tales from the Far Territory" - a brand-new expansion pass that will be spread across the next 12 months. Just keep in mind that after The Long Dark is removed from Game Pass, you'll need to own the base game in order to access any extra DLC as well.
