Last April, we heard reports that SEGA was working on various reboots to bring some of its classics franchises into the modern era. While that report has yet to be backed up by any sort of official announcement from SEGA, one of the rumoured remakes was for Xbox classic Jet Set Radio - and now fresh footage from that series has appeared online.
Now, we're not entirely sure if this clip or the associated images are from a remake of the original or a reboot or what - in fact, we don't know if the footage is real or not just yet. Still, a seemingly modern version of Jet Set Radio has cropped up as part of some sort of rumoured internal development montage at SEGA. Here, take a look at the clip down below:
The very brief look at Jet Set Radio is mixed in with a bunch of Sonic Frontiers footage from before that game's launch, and a seemingly updated version of Persona 3. Again, this one could be a remake of the company's classic JRPG - a remake that Japanese outlet Gematsu believes is indeed in development at SEGA.
Right, back to Jet Set Radio. Again, this is unconfirmed footage at this point so take it all with a pinch of salt, but, even more evidence of such a remake has been shared following the above leaked clip. Twitter user SEGAbits has posted a reel of blurred Jet Set images (in order to hide the watermark name) - backing up prior leaks and reports of a new Jet Set Radio game.
We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for any sort of official announcement for either of these remakes, or maybe even for some other classic SEGA titles that could be getting the reboot treatment. It's best to be cautious with this info right now to avoid potential disappointment, but if this is all true, SEGA seems to be cooking up some classic content for future re-releases.
What do you make of this footage? Think it's real or fake? Let us know in the comments down below.

I'm so ready for this but I'm also looking forward to "Team Reptile's" spiritual successor "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk"
Jet set radio and future are awesome games
I know it's not going to happen but I'd love a remake of Virtua Cop if Sega could figure out how to get a light gun peripheral to work with modern tvs.
Outrun coast to coast
Daytona USA …c’mon man. I thought I had this license but I don’t.
@PeteW They would probably just port it to the Switch as a part of the SEGA AGES series or Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
It looks like Jet Set Radio 3 and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will go in different directions and I love it. Jet Set Radio 3 will evolve the series and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will take what was amazing in JSRF and put it's own spin on it.
I doubt this following hypothesis is true, but would be interesting if MS decided to fully finance the Personan 3 remake with intent to make it Xbox console exclusive as a counter to the FF7 remake PS exclusivity.
Jet Set radio i hope is not a remake and just a new entry.
@Tharsman Some of the talking heads are dropping the hint that Jet Set is definitely being rebooted, and it is live service. So, let's just take that as we will, because I kinda suspect it's probably true.
God i wish
please don't just be some pachinko thing
If this is real, please be more in the style of Jet Set Radio Future where you could chill in free roam between missions. And keep the cel shading
Jet Set Radio would be a success for SEGA with how well recent Hi Fi Rush was received
@Tharsman If Microsoft have fully funded the remake then no one can complain that's its not on Playstation/Nintendo. For all we know Sony could of Funded Final Fantasy 7 Remake otherwise Square wouldn't of bothered with it.
I’m hoping the rumors are true of a new Jet Set Radio. I absolutely loved the first one so much that when I found out the second one was going to Xbox, I ran out and bought one just for the game. I’ve been with Xbox since.
I thought it was announced before that SEGA was considering another JSR game, but was thinking of having it as a live service game. If it’s something like that, I don’t want it. I just want to buy the game and have a great single player experience.
@SplooshDmg I forgot about that news about their upcoming Live service ideas and their idea of some "Super" game.
@Scummbuddy Yeah, I have a feeling this one is going to be a total monkey paw situation. We wish for a new Jet Set Radio, and we get one... Just not the one wanted... Lol
A Sega Super game... Like, Jet Set characters are skating around doing graffiti, while Sonic is running through the city like Sonic Adventure 2, and then Outrun or Daytona cars are speeding through the city streets, and all the while players can see each other doing their thing?
Is that fun?
Could not care less about Persona 3, but Jet Set Radio would be cool.
To many fantastic titles to choose from to be fair 👍 loved both Jet Set Radio & Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast. Persona 3 would be welcome also as the more Atlus on Xbox the better considering we have lost Square Enix.
@UltimateOtaku91
Sadly, we never are informed of such details on deals. We only found out, I think, years later that Rise Tomb Rider was fully financed by Microsoft. All we hear is "this game is [name] console exclusive!" and are left to guess if it was just token money hatting, or what.
I would appreciate a bit more transparency, at least on being told if something is fully financed by the platform holder that got the exclusivity. But then they would look weird when the marketing clauses kick in and the developers start saying the mandated lines like "this game is only possible due to the power of the [insert platform]!"
@SplooshDmg Not sure how several companies have made this exact mistake, instead of learning from each other.
Fans: "Give us a sequel to [great game]!"
Company: "Okay, here's a lame mobile/pachinko thing, which is based on [great game]."
I really enjoyed Jet Set Radio back in the day but I’d rather see Sega Rally remade. I remembered how I loved that every lap was different due to the track deformation, it was impressive at the time.
@Tharsman with so many rumours of many more Atlus titles hitting Xbox I wonder if Microsoft is investing in them to offset loosing Square Enix support.
@cragis0001 they are certainly investing on Sega. They been having a good relationship since the start of this generation, with Like A Dragon 7. And of course, “good relationship” always include “investments” in this industry.
@Tharsman not a bad thing to be fair as I jumped from Sega to Microsoft after the death of Dreamcast. So I'd love to see with investment Sega back to some sort of former glory.
Please ! Gaming needs a STRONG Sega.
@Kaloudz cant imagine what would happen if a new Skies of Arcadia was released
Can we get a remaster of the first two as well... please :-/
