EA has today pulled back the curtain on the logo for EA Sports FC, which will be the new name for the FIFA series starting with this year's game. The brand will be debuting in football matches across the globe beginning this week.
For now, we don't know anything about the actual game, aside from the fact we'll be getting a major reveal in July. Instead, EA is using this opportunity to basically try and get us all used to the new name over the next few months.
Here's what the SVP & GM of EA Sports FC, Nick Wlodyka, had to say in a press release:
"This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take it into a fan-first future. EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July."
It was back in May of 2022 that EA announced plans to drop the FIFA name, with a report suggesting the company wasn't willing to pay to license it any longer. This is also when the EA Sports FC brand was first announced.
Following this, FIFA president Gianni Infantino stated "the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans", enthusing that the FIFA name would remain "THE BEST".
